Thank you to everybody who came through @queen.of.rogues and to Liz at Queen of Rogues for hosting the ‘I Exist In You’ show these last six weeks. Much gratitude. These paintings are headed to their new homes.
Happy Birthday John. I hope that we might still wake up our collective imagination to live this life in peace. ALL the people. Until then, let’s use some of that Lennon wit and determination to confront fear and hate in all its forms. Even within ourselves. It’s time to be the power that we all are collectively. Those holding the power now don’t have the imagination to think community or people or love. Only their own interests, segregation, fear and the manipulation of us and all those things inside us. We are our only hope. Love and its strength.

The third painting, ‘G#’ in the triptych series ‘I Exist In You: The Three Graces’, is now on view in Woodstock, New York @sonderbar_woodstock . We hung the first piece ‘Ab’ back in May, then hung the second piece ‘E Natural’ end of June and left her up all Summer. Now the unveiling of ‘G#’ happens when they open doors tomorrow, Thursday Oct 9, at noon. John Lennon’s birthday, just days after the full moon I was born under happened again on the day of my birth.
This might be my favorite of the three pieces. It was the hardest to uncover and discover. And the most experimental of the three. I hope that you get a chance to stop in and see it.
And Sonderbar is directly across the road from @queen.of.rogues where my current solo show is on display through November 8. We’re going to have a party there late afternoon on November 8 with Music spinning, a performance and friends and food. Hope you can make the hang.
The song, btw, is a the solo demo of an unreleased tune, ‘Who Was I (When I Was You)’.

I just want to thank everybody who was there at @queen.of.rogues in Woodstock last night for the sold first full show of mine in a decade. Thanks a full room it became a mighty and powerful space for me. Every single person there really helped make my night very very special. I can’t describe how powerful it was to reacquaint myself with those songs, some of which have never been played live, share it with everyone present and to even debut a new song with the help of my beautiful wife @cindywasserman .
Even my voice has changed and is feeling grateful.. I woke up this morning a little tired, but not destroyed like in the old rock ‘n’ roll days. My voice is happy to be singing again. And it might’ve been my most honest singing ever. I am just glad that I was there. If this gorgeous day today is all I’ve got left then I’m grateful for the experience of last night.
It was a surreal experience being surrounded by a room full of my own art so beautifully installed by my new friend Todd. He really knocked it put of the park. Beyond expectation. We even sold some pieces and the art show hasn’t even opened yet. A very special night for me and I am just full of gratitude this morning.
That look of surprise on my face is probably a moment of me realizing how much I was enjoying it all.

A Pre-Show Letter
Well, I’m a week away from my first full solo show performance in over a decade. An intimate one that is almost more nerve wracking than playing for 5,000 people. Just me in a small gallery turned into a venue for the night and 30 brave souls. And I admit, I’m nervous. But I’m also excited.
I’ve been taking a lot of time just playing and getting to know my guitars, my own voice and these songs again. Everything is different now. In a beautiful and humbling way. My age, letting go of the youthful piss and vinegar in my approach, substances no longer addling my body, my voice and my ambitions which are much different now. And these songs. They are different. It’s been like getting to know old friends that have moved on and lived a life without me around. and they’ve changed a lot through the years just like I have. Turns out we get each other even more now then we did when we first met. That’s a beautiful thing to find with a song you wrote all these years later.
Plus it’s been a long time since the tone geek in me has been able to really play with his live gear.
In the photograph are an amp and a guitar that have been with me since I was 21. Tools that helped me write the first songs that the wider world heard. And then an amp and guitar that have helped me find my footing again in the 10 years that I’ve been musically quiet. Both of them were gifts from dear friends and have been making a lot of good noise on new records I’ve been masking with my dear friend @justinguip that will soon finally come out starting early next year.
For the show next week, I’ve gone all the way back to the beginning in my song catalog. To The Homer Gunns, with Frank Lee Drennen and songs that we wrote that took us on our first adventures around the country. I’ve shifted through music from lost records for Capital and MCA and on through the Wirepony records, solo records and even Truckee Brothers songs. Just enjoying what I’ve found and been reminded of. Then there are the new songs, some soon to be released and a couple not yet even recorded. So, there’s a lot going on, but they all seem to hang well together.

Work in progress. This one is going to be for the album cover of the new record by the mighty @andrewlyallmckeag , member of some truly great bands (a brief tenure in my own band aside), and the record kicks. Got to hear the terrestrial radio compression proof on @91x_loudspeaker the other day and it is fully committed rock n roll. Of course, I have the record here in my studio. I put it in and started painting, inspired by the energy in a crop of photos shot by our friend “O” (@otisserie ) of Andrew to making it even more personal. And it turns out that it’s great to do while in the middle of painting for my art show opening later this month in Woodstock, NY. This painting is feeding rock n roll energy into the other paintings for the show and they are feeding intensity back. It’s a paint loop! So excited and grateful to be asked to do this cover.
