Yes! Crabs molt and shed their exoskeletons, and there’s a limited time during which the shells are soft while they harden and calcify.
2️⃣ When is soft shell crab season?
It just started! It goes from the end of April/beginning of May through the end of summer.
3️⃣ Are they always served fried?
Nope! Soft shell crabs can be prepared any number of ways, fried is just a popular method.
