You remember @poncilicreacion
They left their mark on this year’s Houston Art Car Parade & Festival, from a surprise performance at the Orange Show Monument to DJ sets at the Legendary Art Car Ball, drawing crowds at Discovery Green, and turning heads everywhere they went.
That same energy, imagination, and refusal to play it safe is exactly why we’re excited to welcome them back as the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art’s ✨Artist-in-Residence✨in Fall 2026!
Known for transforming discarded materials into surreal sculptures, puppets, and immersive worlds, Poncili invites people to see art where others might not.
Interested in being part of the residency? We’re looking for volunteers. Reach out to Pete Gershon at [email protected].
More details to come.

Best of all - it's free and open to the public! We hope to see you there.
After about eight years in the car scene, David Infante stepped into the slab community with his own 1983 Oldsmobile 98, built with 15-inch ‘83s from Texan Wire Wheel and factory black with red pinstripes by SIC 713.
And when he rides, it’s with the spirit of Fat Pat and the OGs who built this culture from the ground up.
What David is most looking forward to at The Slab Social on Saturday, May 9, 4pm-8pm, is meeting other slab owners and welcoming people who are just getting familiar with it.
“Walk around the car, see the details, have a conversation. You might leave with a different perspective.”
We’re honored to welcome Dr. Langston Collin Wilkins, SLAB scholar and Assistant Professor of Folklore and African American Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, as a featured speaker at The Slab Social on Saturday!
Wilkins describes SLAB culture as taking shape in Houston during a time of economic hardship, when cars became a form of expression and identity.
Hear @southsidesupervillain speak and join us in celebrating this unique art form on Saturday, May 9, 4pm-8pm at the Orange Show World HQ.

For Derrick, it’s always been about staying true to what he loves and building from there.
His 1983 Buick Riviera Convertible, created with his friend Dewberry, is one of many rides he’s had over the years. Each one marks a different chapter, but the approach never changes: take your time, do it right, and make it yours.
He talks about the slab lifestyle as something that opens doors, gives community, and a sense of pride in the process.
“Do your thing. Everyone’s got their own vision, so follow yours.”
Catch Derrick and his ride at The Slab Social on May 9 at Orange Show World HQ.
For Kelso, slab culture was never a question. He grew up in it, surrounded by family and friends who lived it daily.
At a time when most builds followed a familiar formula, his Joseph Abboud Buick became a remix, reshaping what a slab could be.
Years of rebuilding and honest effort live in every detail, rolling through Houston to Money Man Dot.
