One of my favorite gongs, from our new Temple Style gong unveiling. I just completed the collection, and it was earlier today that we got these 15 gongs done. We only made one of each, and we had a unique vision for each one. You can check out the colleciton of them here: https://www.theohmstore.co/collections/ohm-store-exclusive-gongs

This 8-inch thick-rim lingam bowl was crafted to be a thick rimmed bowl, focused on substantial sustain that comes from this bowls construction. The fundamental of a bowl like a thick-rimmed, Lingam will hold at near-constant volume for an extended amount of time. This is because of the bowl's rim mass and wall thickness working together to slow energy dissipation through the bronze. Less dampening of the vibration means the vibration sustains, on and on. The longer a bowl sustains, the more cycles of entrainment our brainwaves are exposed to. Listen to the audio sample to hear the sustain and the way the bowl's upper voices emerge and settle. This is a lingam bowl, characterized by the raised dome at the center of the bowl floor. While rich in symbology, the raised dome is functional. When the bowl vibrates, its walls flex and move in radiating wave patterns. The lingam sits at the center of all that motion and doesn't move. It's a fixed anchor point, and because the vibrational energy has to organize itself around that anchor rather than spreading freely across a flat floor, it concentrates into specific patterns that bring the upper voices out more strongly. This is why lingam bowls tend to carry richer, more layered overtones. Listen to the bowl more, and reserve one now: https://www.theohmstore.co/products/8-inch-extra-thick-rim-handmade-lingam-bowl-i-limited-edition-bowl

I recommend headphones on to experience the fullest effect. Our project of Titan Bowls continues, with the newest installation of four bowls, each 1 of 1. These are extra large format, clear-crystal bowls each 18 inches in diameter. The purpose of creating these bowls was a deep, long sustained tonal anchor for our practitioners to lay down and then create on top of. We're so glad to bring you four, you can see and here each now: https://www.theohmstore.co/collections/titan-crystal-bowls

風 (Fēng) — 40 Inch Ohm Wind Gong Handcrafted in China A wind gong is a flat bronze plated gong with no turned rim like most of the gongs you see. The entire face is the playing surface, and the instrument hangs freely from cord tied through holes near the top of the plate. This construction is instrument to the sound character of this gong. With no rim to contain and reflect vibration inward, the energy is released energy immediately and in all directions, which is why wind gongs respond the way they do. This is a 40-inch wind gong handcrafted in China, made to Ohm Store specifications from a B20 bronze alloy. Please, visit this gong, hear more of it's recorded playing samples and reserve one if the timing is good: https://www.theohmstore.co/products/40-inch-ohm-wind-gong-i-handmade-for-ohm-store

The way a singing bowl vibrates in instrumental to the therapeutic impact it has. A bowl like this vibrates in different modes -- with modes being simply described as "squising" and "unsquising" from opposite ends. The walls can be nearly seen to be wobbling in and out. Because it's not a perfectly "machined" object, but hand-hammered and work hardened, each different mode produced a different frequency. And those frequencies created monoaural beats, or beat frequencies, resposible for the brain entrainment effects of instruments like these.

Let's understand a bit about why the specific alloy used in handmade bronze singing bowls is important to how they "work" on us. The ratio of copper and tin, falls into the "Goldilocks" zone. Too much copper and we lose sustain. Too much tin and we take away the warmth of sound. The recipe is "just right" for the hypnotic sounds that the bowls produce. If you'd like to expand on this even further, I've created a longer-form talk and full guide here: https://www.theohmstore.co/blogs/news/the-definitive-guide-to-handmade-bronze-singing-bowl

In this video, I speak candidly about the true, therapeutic mechanism of action for a handmade bronze singing bowl. You strike the rim, the tone grows, and for a moment there is not much to do except listen. The sound blooms, bends, shimmers, and slowly decays. Many people describe that moment as calming, grounding, meditative, or quietly meaningful. We want to offer more than beautiful stories, even though they are so compelling. Good explanations do not remove wonder. They protect it by grounding the experience in what can be heard, measured, and taught. We've also put together a full guide, with an extended talk meant for begginer and expert practitioner alike. Please, check it out here: https://www.theohmstore.co/blogs/news/the-definitive-guide-to-handmade-bronze-singing-bowl

I'd call these "Temple Gongs," and they come primarily from Nepal and India. This one featured here, is part of our newest one of a kind gong collection featuring "Goldilocks" sized gongs. At 27 inches, they're not too big, or too little. They're just the right size. These are fully hammered into shape from a bronze ingot, and then each features a unique and sometimes intricate aesthetic that we get onto the gong using a burnished relief patina that is used on our singing bowls as well. It's a unique format for gongs, not tuned and a utilty inharmonic instrument. Take a look at the collection we've got now: https://www.theohmstore.co/collections/ohm-store-exclusive-gongs

The Jupiter Bowl is the anchor of The Ohm Store. The bell-bronze, 12 inch singing bowl that brings three beat frequencies, second octave fundamental and 90+ seconds of sustain. We are ever grateful for this bowl (it's one I use daily)
