Fourth day metal detecting on my 6-acre permission in Morley. I knew I'd find more once I'd cleared much of the trash (mostly aluminium cans and ring pulls, bits of lead, household waste and machinery parts). Two weeks ago, eight coins was my all-time record for a day's detecting. Smashed that one today... found ELEVEN coin. One was a virtually illegible halfpenny from 18th or 19th century (Victoria or George II or III). The other ten were all 20th century. Six were George V pennies and halfpennies. Three were George VI: a halfpenny, a penny, and a thrupence, and one was a post-decimalisation new penny. I also found an 18th/19th century lead hem weight, a 1920s-1950s Pratt's Motor Spirit fuel can lid, an elegant Victorian filigree brass faceted brooch which I briefly mistook for gold, and a button. I'm sure there'll be earlier finds. Watch this space. Meanwhile, check out these pics...
