On Valentine's Day we decided to celebrate our love of Humanity in all its forms.
We saw performances in Spanish, Yoruba, Armara, Turkish, Gaelic, English, Basque, Farsi.
Being Multilingual, our Library literally could not exist without our beautiful volunteers from so many corners of the Earth.
Regardless of your "immigration status", how you came to the UK, or whether you've never left Tyneside, or how much money you have, and especially what dialect or language you speak... this Library is yours. Everyone is welcome here.
It is so painful to see decisions from the UK government, which divide us at home, and cause war far away.
The end of permanent settlement for refugees means our valuable staff, volunteers and customers will have their lives upturned every 2 years, in a cruel bureaucratic game of division.
We need peace and stability, not to live in fear of being deported.
What does this remind you of, in history, and elsewhere in the world?
Thank you to all the people that keep this Library going, for your languages and your friendship.
PS - if you need a meeting space, please get in touch and we're happy to help.
If not you, then who?
If not now, then when?
The 17th of May is the day that Norwegians celebrate their independence day! Gratulerer Med Dagen!
