As the Creative Director, I knew my outfit couldn’t just be fashion. It had to be storytelling. It had to be identity. It had to be culture in conversation with culture. Every piece of this look was intentional. The cap and sokoto represent my roots; the proud Yoruba culture of Ijebu Ode. That is home. That is language. That is bloodline. The fur-knitted top draws inspiration from Tibetan cultural fashion often associated with communities in Gansu, China, representing a people whose traditions continue to influence global conversations around spirituality, identity, resilience, and heritage. The white singlet symbolizes Western culture, a modern force that has shaped fashion, media, music, and the way today’s world interacts. And then the footwear; the gold-plated cross slippers. Royalty. Unity. Presence. A reminder that despite our different histories and appearances, culture can still walk together. This outfit was my interpretation of one simple truth: We may come from different villages… but the world itself has become one global village. Being proud of my roots does not limit me from embracing the beauty of other cultures. In fact, true identity gives you the confidence to connect beyond borders. I am proudly Yoruba.
