Dear Instagram alghorithm, I’m here again, calling on filmmaking volunteers in Abuja who can make the sacrifice of bringing these projects to life. If you are: A Cinematographer or Sound Professional – Someone who can film and has deep knowledge of filmmaking. From cinematographers to sound recordists, if you have the experience, I want you on my team. The Fisher of Men & Women – Someone resourceful with people. Whether you’re an aspiring casting director or someone who can walk into a grant meeting and charm us into securing funding, I want you. The Project’s Actor – Someone ready to become my creative partner. Available for day or night shoots, experienced on screen, with a showreel or monologue on your Instagram page. A Content Creator – Our publicity guide. Someone who can capture Instagram reels, design Canva carousel posts, and push content ideas. You don’t need to be a pro—just willing. An Administrative Producer – Someone willing to support the execution of each film project or help us access feasible funds, grants, or small budgets. “Stolen From” is a film about the struggle that comes after the loss a victim faces after a robbery. The mental struggle they face and how much changes in their life from a singular event. In Nigeria, we say someone has entered a “one chance” vehicle, a commercial ride that turns into something else entirely… where victims are taken, robbed, violated, or worse. With this story, the Mirror Project team hopes to shine a light, not just on the act, but on the aftermath. To offer something honest, something human… and maybe, in its own quiet way, something that feels like hope to survivor. I can’t wait for everything to come full circle. But let me tell you why I’m holding on this tightly… why I’m fighting for Mirror Project like it’s more than just a film. Because it is. It’s every doubt I refused to listen to. It’s every “not now,” every “you’re not ready,” every door that didn’t open. It’s proof that something can live in your head, in your chest, in your bones for years… and still find its way into the world if you don’t abandon it. Mirror Project is me choosing not to quit on the stories that won’t let me sleep. Some of those stories… we’ve already carried them all the way through. Quietly. From nothing, to something real. Not out in the world yet, but they exist. And that means everything. And if you’re a filmmaker, a beginner, a dreamer with ideas bigger than your pocket… hear me: Nothing you’re waiting for is coming to save you. No perfect time. No perfect budget. No perfect permission. Just you. Your stubborn, almost unreasonable belief. That quiet, persistent voice that keeps saying, “try again.” I know what it feels like to want something you can’t yet afford. To see the vision so clearly but not have the means to hold it. To feel like the world only rewards the already established. But the truth is ... everything you’ve ever dreamed of… the stories you wish the world would see, the lives you hope to change… They’re not far away. They’re right in front of you. Waiting for you to stop hesitating. So don’t stop. Not now. Not here. To every filmmaker. Every creative. Every person carrying a dream that feels too heavy and too expensive... I’m rooting for you. And yeah… Good luck. We’re going to need it.
