Bidding open now for this incredible cricket memorabilia Jayna’s initiative is a heartfelt tribute to her father’s courage and a call to action for New Zealand’s youth. She is auctioning a unique exhibit featuring the signatures of New Zealand Test wicketkeepers since Ken’s death, a powerful symbol of continuity and resilience. The funds raised will support the grassroots charity that provides free counselling for Kiwis under 25 and fosters open conversations about mental health. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/sports/sports-memorabilia/cricket/listing/5614566319

Most people don’t need you to fix them. And they definitely don’t need you to disappear because it feels “too big”. Sometimes the best thing you can do is stay. Sit beside them. Listen. And if you do want to say something, keep it simple: “I don’t know exactly what to do here, but I’m with you. If you want help, I’ll help you find it.” If you’re under 25 and need someone to talk to, book a FREE counsellor through Gumboot Friday — no referral needed. #IAmHope #GumbootFriday #MentalHealth #CheckIn #ListenMore

We’ve had a huge amount of feedback to this one — and honestly, it’s because so many families are living it. 🩵 Mike’s latest piece looks at how stories about autistic kids can land in the real world: less as “awareness”, but more as extra shame, extra fear, and more judgement piled onto parents who are doing their best behind closed doors and probably already struggling. If you’re raising a neurodiverse child, we see you. And if you’re reading along from the outside, here’s the reminder: support helps. Judgement doesn’t. This line in @themikeking ’s latest piece stops you in your tracks: “If we listen, properly listen, fewer letters will ever need to be written.” Through the 1000 Letters project, I Am Hope Foundation NZ has exposed a critical flaw in how New Zealand approaches youth mental health — we have built a system that waits for young people to ask for help, at the very moment they have the least capacity to do so. 1 in 5 young New Zealanders experience high psychological distress. The solution is not more complexity. It is showing up before they have to ask. It is a timely reminder for all of us — in business, in leadership, and in our communities — that listening is not passive. It is a choice we make every day. Last week’s storms have caused immense damage and heartbreak for many families. For many children and teenagers, distress does not always show up straight away. It can surface days or weeks later as anxiety, withdrawal, anger, numbness, trouble sleeping, or a heavy feeling they cannot explain. If that’s you or someone you love, please reach out. In the weeks ahead, simple check ins, steady routines, and looking out for one another will matter more than ever. Take care of yourselves and each other ❤️‍🩹 If you're wanting to talk, bookings can be made via the link in our bio or at .nz #IAmHope #GumbootFriday #FreeCounselling #MentalHealth #MentalHealthSupport #Therapy #MentalHealthAwareness #NZ

A while back we told you that I Am Hope and Moko Pounamu wanted to acknowledge the unsung heroes in communities around New Zealand, and asked you to submit people you thought fit the bill. We received hundreds of submissions and were blown away by the incredible amount of good that so many people are doing across the country for their communities. Out of all those worthy submissions, one really stood out to us. Nominated by her sister Jenna, our I Am Hope X Moko Pounamu Community Hero is Charne. Charne wears many hats across the Beachlands communtiy. Mum, wife, friend, coach, mentor, advocate and HERO. She is an active member of multiple community groups, a valued member of each and every one, and a bright light in the lives of all the tamariki she works alongside. We were so honored and privileged to present Charne with a lovely Moko Pounamu taonga, and witness the love and appreciation her community has for her. The world is truly lucky to have Charne in it ❤️ #IAmHope #GumbootFriday #MentalHealth #Hero #Community #Winner #Pounamu #PounamuCarver #Local #Greenstone #PounamuCarving #NZMade #HandCrafted #MyHero

Just a snippet of all you amazing people across Aotearoa who have been supporting our young people today, by wearing your Gumboots. Every cent of Gumboot Friday money goes directly to counsellors from a KIWIBANK acc, exclusively for the platform, that cannot be accessed by anyone. You support, counsellors deliver … our kids benefit. That is why we continue to do this work, amidst all the white noise, we do not lose sight of the true beneficiaries - OUR KIDS They are our WHY and they always will be. Thanks for GumbootingUp NZ!! ♥️ Thanks again to @writtenbywolves for the amazing sounds! You guys rock!

With Gumboot Friday tomorrow, here's one last incredible human we want to thank again, for showing so much love and support for us and mental health ❤️ In September, it was the 10 year anniversary of the loss of Alex's uncle Sammy. Alex never got to meet him, as he tragically took his own life weeks before Alex was born. In honour of his uncle Sammy, Alex decided to cut off the mullet he's had his entire life, and raise money for mental health. "Even though I never got to meet him, I miss him. And I want to make sure other kids don’t have to miss their cool uncles like I do. I'm doing this so someone else’s uncle, aunty, brother, sister, or friend gets to stay. Because no one should feel alone, and no one should be left behind." Alex's goal was to raise $10,000. He ended up almost doubling that, with the final number coming in at $19,550 🤯🥳 We are so grateful for any support we receive, particularly when that support is coming from kids, because they're the reason we do this. Kids like Alex are the reason we continue to push through the struggles and hard days. Thank you Alex for the reminder, and for all your support. You are the coolest 🙌🌟 #iamhope #gumbootfriday #youthmentalhealth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #fundraising #counselling #therapy #freecounselling #nz #haircut #mullet #mulletcut
