His work captured the essence of the original in a fresh and exciting way, while paying tribute to the sorely missed tradition of the classic movie poster. He helped usher the work to a new generation who truly values and appreciates the art form. Condolences to his friends and family.

Amazing stories of working with Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and their peers in an era when (there can be zero doubt) only the strong survived and she worked at the highest and toughest physical level! 💪
Thanks to Eastern Heroes for bringing her to the UK for the first time and she certainly had a lot of love here! Very excited to finally grab the new @arrowvideo release of John Woo’s classic, Hard Boiled. The anticipation for this has been pretty major! Loved seeing the UK premiere on the big screen last year thanks to @leaff_official and it’s a very special one to now own! 🎬
Fans know the score, of course, but try explaining this briefly, as it’s a tough one to fully contextualise, owing to the culmination of Woo’s output at the time, the impact, legacy and many imitators. It’s so often cited and inspires so many names in the current generation of action talent, that it carries a heavy rep! Yet, it still holds that deserved iconic status, a show-stopping feat of beautifully orchestrated cinema, which just so happens to deliver poetic violence and carnage!

A couple of years back, I had a great night giving a talk and history on Bruce Lee’s classic Way of the Dragon at the wonderful @kilntheatre . Of course, Chuck Norris swiftly enters the conversation, even with so much to cover. The fact that Bruce wanted to bring people like Chuck and Bob Wall in for his directorial debut speaks volumes for how highly he regarded and trusted them!
It’s always a joy to share the passion and discuss these films with old and new fans, alike. A legend has departed. Very sad to hear the one and only Chuck Norris has left us, a mainstay of action cinema and popular culture who we simply thought would be around forever.
He is a true icon of American martial arts history who found a creative outlet in the movies and television. He would also become a well-loved philanthropist, king of a health and fitness empire, best-selling author and man of faith who inspired many. In later years, the “Chuck Norris Facts” only endeared him even more to a new online generation, and he seemed to enjoy the good humour. Tonight, put on a Norris action classic and raise a glass in honour. RIP sir (1940-2026).
