The Michael Foster Project is a brass band and music ensemble based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana known for blending traditional jazz with funk, Latin, pop, hip-hop, and other genres. They’ve been active since the late 1990s and are considered one of the Capital Region’s longest-running brass bands.
The group is led by Michael Foster, a musician who plays sousaphone, electric bass, and acoustic bass, and who began his music career in the Human Jukebox Marching Band at Southern University
The entire band attended SU and performed in SU’s world renowned SU Jukebox Band, the Blue and Gold runs deep! Xero, our host also plays with a the Project - we’re all a big family!
They’ve performed at a wide variety of events — from local festivals and community concerts to Mardi Gras balls, pageants, and even music festivals abroad. The band frequently appears at local events in Baton Rouge such as the Rock N Rowe concert series at Perkins Rowe and community music events like Movies & Music on the Lawn
