*Employee Spotlight* Meet Tony Kestel, President of @themaxconstructiongroup . If you’re looking for the backbone of our company, look no further. He’s solid and steady—a true, principled leader to the core. Tony served our country for four years in the Marines, and, after that, he went into Construction Management. After gaining several years of experience, he eventually found his way to MCG. Tony believes that what sets @themaxconstructiongroup apart from other companies is that we feel and operate like a family. He says, “It’s not a normal job; we take a deep personal interest in each other and look out for one another. We take care of the business like it’s our company and our money.” Tony strongly feels that customers believe in MCG because we are a unique company who is good at problem solving. And, truth be told, Tony is the man behind the scenes meticulously planning so that our teams can put quality work into place. When Tony’s not at work, you can find him spending time with his wife, Mary Ann, who he’s been with for 22 years, or playing sports in the backyard with his 10 year old son, Israel, which gives him great joy. He also feels tremendous pride in his son Brayden, who just finished up his duty in the Marines and works on power lines in North Carolina, where he lives with his wife and two daughters. In this job, the existing restrooms were directly between two staircases- all of which were non compliant to current standards. Selective demo allows our team to see and identify potential problems before new plans are drawn. THROWBACK THURSDAY @firesidepizzawh is a full circle dream that was pursued for 20 years by @themaxconstructiongroup . Fire Co. 16 was first spotted in 1993, and almost instantly, saving this piece of Cincinnati history became the goal. But it wasn’t until eight years later that Matt tried to purchase the building from WHRF. However, the city of Cincinnati had other plans and took back the property. It wasn’t until 2011 that they put out the RFP to stabilize the structure. @themaxconstructiongroup was awarded the work through an open public bid process, and the rest, as they say, is history. After 37 years of sitting vacant after a fire, @themaxconstructiongroup repaired the masonry, reframed the floors, and added a new roof. Through that process, MCG contacted a developer who found the just right occupant for the commercial space on the first floor and the residential build out on the second floor. MCG was ultimately awarded the work for both, and Fire Co. 16 became the home of @firesidepizzawh -which breathed new life into this historic building. For nine years @firesidepizzawh has occupied this space and is currently thriving in it. @themaxconstructiongroup , along with Ed Wright @wright_architect , continues to be proud of putting quality work in place: high level custom carpentry, the re-installation of the old fire pole, and the preservation of as many original components as possible. It’s been said that good things come to those who wait. But seeing our vision come to life and @firesidepizzawh invest in this beautiful and historic building is truly serendipity. *MCG Team Spotlight* Meet Ricky Burdine, our newest Project Manager @themaxconstructiongroup . Ricky comes to us from a military background of 14 years, proudly having served our country in Afghanistan, Serbia, and on a U.S. Border deployment. Ricky’s vast experience in the military with diverse cultures, people, and communities has allowed him to seamlessly integrate into our close knit team, where he’s already been serving our clients well. When Ricky wasn’t deployed, he worked at VOA for ten years, starting as a Security Guard and climbing his way to Assistant Program Director. While at VOA, he trained staff and monitored between 75-155 clients at a time. The skills he honed while on the job have made him a true asset to our team in a very short time. Perhaps Ricky’s greatest joy is his family. Along with his wife Desiree, they are raising three kids in New Richmond. In just a few months @themaxconstructiongroup , Ricky has taken over the city funded grant projects and other various smaller projects. He has begun to bid jobs, embracing each new opportunity entrusted in his care. Ricky believes that his ability to make connections with people is what will make him successful wherever he is.
