My families roots, and my filmmaking roots run deep in Polynesia! It was great to reconnect with old friends from my childhood in the Cook Islands, and make new friends in Laie for our shoot there. Amazing crew, actors, and extras! Despite having just been through severe flooding the week before they all came out with smiles on their faces ready to make this film jubilant and bright. We got some fantastic performances and this film is really coming together! I can’t wait to share more with everyone.

Filming in Mexico has long been a desire of mine, I didn’t expect it to be such a personal one. Gracias a mi esposa por inspirar esa película, y por inspirar todo lo que hago. Hopefully this is just the first of many opportunities that I will have to tell stories from and in my second home.
The crew, actors, and extras were amazing (especialmente mi suegra, mi familia, y mis amigos que vinieron), and finally filming something with mi primo, and Tobacco Films was long overdue!
Estaré de regreso, de nuevo, y pronto. Mil gracias a todos.

Grandparents are mystical creatures. As a child you look to them as timeless beings. You count how they have lived so much, question how they know so much, and wonder at how they love so much.
I have been blessed to count amongst my grandparents my grandfather, and namesake, Dix Davis. I hate that no combination of words can adequately capture who he was. I’d be lying if I said that the world doesn’t feel a little darker without him in it… but that isn’t true. His light has just changed hands for a minute. Everyone whoever knew him will get to carry a portion for a season… until we meet again.
Thank you for my curiosity, for my ingenuity, for my love of strangers, and my ability to consider literally anything as an acceptable topping on my pancakes.
I love you, Grandpa Dix. Rest in peace.
Filming in Japan was an awesome experience, such a talented crew, actors, and babies! Confined locations, snowy cold nights, and a 7.6 magnitude earthquake that left me barefoot in the snow at night (sometimes I make poor life choices). Nothing a good bowl of ramen can’t remedy. I loved Japan, can’t wait to go back. Sapporo 2025 parte 4 de 11 #directing #filmmaking #sapporo
Too many director hands for one post. What a privilege to work with the filmmakers, actors and extras of Thailand. Every leg of this film has its own technical challenges, and every time this awesome crew answers the call. Also short rib green curry, enough said. No hedgehogs were harmed in the making of this film. Such a pleasure to work with such talented filmmakers, musicians, and actors in Rome. Can’t wait for everyone to feel what @keyelleofficial and @bceuas made us all feel in this scene. Grazie mille! Rome, 2025 parte 2 de 11 #directing #filmmaking #rome Photo Credit @cinechopper
I promise I’m not yelling at this sweet French actress who let me give her direction in Spanish.

The first photo is of Sandra circa 2013. She is pregnant with her first child. She has just started UVU’s ESL program. The second photo is today, she just finished her bachelors degree. This amazing woman went on to finish a college degree in her second language, in a field that forced her to learn 2 other coding languages, as well as develop her gifts as an artist and a designer, while raising three amazing kids and a husband. I cannot express how humbled I am by her resilience. I can’t count how many times I went to bed at midnight while she worked arduously on her current project, and would wake up to find her still hard a work. She has sacrificed everything to fight for her dream, and now it is hers and no one can take it from her. Excited to be along for her journey. Love you @silvadavis
So honored that ‘El Bautismo’ took 1st place in the @zionsindiefilmfest Screenplay Competition! And even more honored for @silvadavis and I to be recipients of the Joshua Michael French Memorial Scholarship. We can’t wait to go into production later this year, and to share this film with the world. 🥇🎉🥳Thanks to @barrettburgin for helping Sandra and I early on and encouraging us to write this script, and for signing on to help produce this film with @jakejpeterson as well as the many other collaborators who we will announce at a later date!
