This absolute power of the “reflected” image which constitutes the sense of the portrait, of the funeral mask, is able to make magically present what will no longer be there, to split the subject into the object, so it represents a possible attempt to escape the oblivion of time. Through the mold I reproduce the authentic double figural of my eyes using the technique of lost wax casting. Eyes closed “open” on the mystery in a state of sought-after blindness of becoming a seer. It’s perpetuated the classic myth of Homer, the blind poet who abandons the outside world to venture into the abyss of his interiority but who is also the voyant of Rimbaud. Closing my eyes I interrupt a channel of information that uses light as a medium and through the cast that instant finds its incarnation in the double. Με μεγάλη συγκίνηση πραγματοποιήθηκαν στα Ανώγεια τα εγκαίνια του Ανώγεια Κέντρου Υφαντικής, @anogeiaweavinghouse ενός νέου χώρου αφιερωμένου στην υφαντική τέχνη, τη μνήμη και τη σύγχρονη πολιτιστική δημιουργία. Το Κέντρο στεγάζεται στην παλιά βιοτεχνία της Αγάπης Σμπώκου, της γνωστής Σμπωκοβασίλενας, και επαναλειτουργεί σήμερα ως ένας ζωντανός χώρος πολιτισμού και εκπαίδευσης γύρω από την υφαντική παράδοση των Ανωγείων. Πλήθος κόσμου από τα Ανώγεια, την Κρήτη και άλλες περιοχές της Ελλάδας παρευρέθηκε στην εκδήλωση, τιμώντας τη δωρεά της Κωστάντζας Σμπώκου - Κωνσταντακοπούλου @costantzasbokou προς τον Δήμο Ανωγείων και τη συλλογική προσπάθεια που οδήγησε στη δημιουργία του Κέντρου. Κατά τη διάρκεια της βραδιάς, ο Δήμαρχος Ανωγείων @skefalogiannis αναφέρθηκε στη βαθιά σχέση του τόπου με την υφαντική και στον ρόλο της ανωγειανής γυναίκας στη διατήρηση της πολιτιστικής ταυτότητας του χωριού. Η @costantzasbokou μίλησε για τη μνήμη της γιαγιάς της Αγάπης Σμπώκου και για το προσωπικό όραμα δημιουργίας ενός χώρου αφιερωμένου στην υφαντική των Ανωγείων, ενώ η @carmen.constant στάθηκε στη σημασία της σύνδεσης της τοπικής τεχνογνωσίας με τη σύγχρονη δημιουργία και τον πολιτιστικό διάλογο. Η @christinatripodianaki , επιστημονικά υπεύθυνη του χώρου, παρουσίασε τους βασικούς άξονες ανάπτυξης του Κέντρου με έμφαση στην έρευνα, την εκπαίδευση και τις πολιτιστικές συνεργασίες. Παρουσιάστηκε επίσης η εναρκτήρια έκθεση του Κέντρου με ιστορικά υφαντά και οικογενειακά κειμήλια που παραχώρησαν οικογένειες και υφάντριες των Ανωγείων, πολλά από τα οποία χρονολογούνται από τη δεκαετία του 1930 και έπειτα. Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης υπογράφηκε Μνημόνιο Συνεργασίας με το @thebenakimuseum , ενώ το έργο υλοποιήθηκε με τη δημιουργική διεύθυνση και καλλιτεχνική επιμέλεια του @themare.studio , σε συνεργασία με την αρχιτέκτονα @magdalini_s_ και με τη συμβολή ανθρώπων της τοπικής κοινότητας. #AnogeiaWeavingHouse #Anogeia #Crete #CretanCulture #WeavingTradition

💫Hospitality Atmospheres: Conrad Athens The Ilisian — Athenian Modernity Returns as a Hospitality Experience 💫 Hospitality Atmospheres explores the spatial, material, and sensory qualities that shape experiences of welcome. Through carefully selected projects, the series examines how architecture frames comfort, encounter, and ritual thus revealing hospitality not as a program, but as an atmosphere shaped by light, texture, proportion, and use. Conrad Athens @theilisian_official marks the reintegration of one of postwar Athens’ landmark buildings into contemporary urban life. The former Hilton Athens, now The Ilisian, was designed by architects Prokopis Vasileiadis, Emmanuel Vourekas, Spyros Staikos, and Antonis Georgiadis, and constructed between 1958 and 1963 as one of the most emblematic works of Greek postwar modernism. Equally significant was the contribution of Yannis Moralis, who designed the monumental marble composition on the building’s façade in collaboration with sculptor Yannis Nikolaidis. Conrad Athens The Ilisian marks the reintegration of an iconic postwar Athenian building into contemporary urban life. Respecting the architectural legacy of the former Hilton while introducing refined new interventions, the project is transformed into a multifaceted urban resort. Conrad Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in Greece with Conrad Athens The Ilisian, transforming the former Hilton Athens into a mixed-use destination in the city center. The 278-room hotel features interiors by AvroKO with an art program overseen by Mare Studio, alongside dining led by Byzantino Grande Brasserie from Michelin-starred chef Angelos Lantos, Japanese restaurant Onuki designed by studio Yabu Pushelberg, and Athenian Lounge. Set within the Ilisian development, the project also integrates private residences and the House of NYNN private members’ club, with additional dining and wellness components scheduled to open later this year. After years in the making the iconic Athens Hilton (opened in 1963), originally planed by Emmanouil Vourekas and Sypros Staikos, has just re opened over the weekend. Felt amazing to walk-in to this building again, like a masterful journey into 1970’s design. This marvellous piece of architecture has been skilfully handled with the highest precision. "Ram with Human" folding and unfolding at @galeriebrugger . The sculpture has no fixed position, resting at different angles between its compact and open state. Fully closed, it reduces to a minimal volume for transport. Based on a 2nd century marble titled 'Ulysses escaping from Polyphemus the Cyclops', available as a free download via threedscans.com.
