FIGUISCH, by Japanese artist Kōtarō Ōkoshi, is a collection of short stories for adult readers that explores some of the most uncomfortable territories of graphic and psychological horror.
Page after page, the stories move between nightmare, intimate tragedy, and grotesque visions. Bodies deform, situations spiral out of control, and a growing sense of unease slowly settles in.
Ōkoshi’s universe lies somewhere between the obsessive horror of Junji Ito—but in a cruder, more trash, more uncompromising form—and the grotesque, transgressive imagination of Shintaro Kago.
You will see it for yourself: every story in this book is genuinely unsettling and bound to surprise you. They all share the same intensity—a desire to disturb the reader and provoke a visceral reaction, blending fascination, unease, and a strange form of macabre beauty.
This is not a comfortable book.
But that is precisely why I absolutely wanted to publish it.
