I started getting into audio engineering back in 2017, with my first mixes of mine seeing the light of day during the pandemic circa 2020-2021. 35 years old today… Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by releasing a fun lil project me and my best bud @band_o_clones have been working on: a cover of Mr. Jack by SOAD. Full vid on bio! When I was in graduate school I realized I didn’t want to come out at the end only to know how to work rather than truly live. So I spent a bunch of money I didn’t have and got myself all the music gear I had always wanted. I paid off all that debt this year and it really drove home the point my 25 year old saw: what if the real work in this life is to proceed with hope even when you feel none? To invest in yourself even if those around you make you feel worthless or misguided? What if the majority of your capabilities are dictated by what you tell yourself they are? I’m horrified by so much of what is happening in the world right now. But I’m also excited to keep connecting and growing with everyone who has been here these last several years. These apps give us a false impression of the world around us. We see everyone’s highlight reels, not their own unique trials and tribulations. There’s a quote I believe comes from AA: Never judge your insides to someone else’s outsides. And as I share that sentiment with you, I’d be lying if I said I could always hold it. Comparison is the thief of joy. Life is fleeting and you’ll miss out if you keep focusing on what’s not happening. So with all that said, I just wanted to take a second to share these moments of 2025 that I’m grateful for.
