#FlashbackFriday A few days after the Zimbabwe Beauty Meetup, The Makeup Fair Series (TMUFS) was in Lusaka 🇿🇲 for the Zambia Beauty Meetup on April 13th and the turnout was incredible. More than the numbers, it was the quality of the conversations that stood out. Our Founder, Omolola Faleye @omololafaleye02 engaged with makeup artists, beauty creatives and brand owners in meaningful discussions around networking, collaboration, healthy competition, visibility and building together as an industry. Questions were asked openly. Experiences were shared honestly. The energy in the room was encouraging and real. Curated gift boxes brought in from Nigeria were also shared; the excitement and appreciation from attendees said it all One of the standout moments from the evening was gifting two makeup artists who confidently pitched themselves and their brands in just two minutes. Bold. Clear. Impressive. It was also a pleasure connecting with beauty brand owners like Black Roz and Uchy’s Mtouch, who warmly welcomed our Founder and even came bearing thoughtful gifts. More importantly, attendees left with a renewed resolve to do better, to network more intentionally, collaborate more openly, embrace healthy competition and stay consistent in showing up for one another through meetups like this. The evening ended on such a high note reinforcing something we continue to see across markets: Africa’s beauty industry is deeply connected by shared dreams, similar challenges and a collective willingness to grow together. The Zim Beauty Meetup in Harare continued the following day, April 10th with even more artists and beauty creatives showing up for a follow-up meet and greet filled with connection, conversations and community. What started as a simple meetup became something much deeper genuine connection, meaningful conversations, shared experiences and beautiful moments within the beauty community. From the excitement in the room to the appreciation from artists who showed up, it was a reminder of how important spaces like this truly are and how much growth can happen when creatives come together in one room. Throwback to 9th April 2026 when TMUFS hosted the very first Zim Beauty Meetup in Harare, Zimbabwe. The meetup was convened during a visit by our Founder, @omololafaleye02 bringing together makeup artists, hairstylists and beauty retailers across Zimbabwe’s beauty ecosystem. What started as a simple meetup quickly became something more meaningful conversations, genuine connectionsand a powerful reminder: The African beauty industry is more connected than we think. Curated gift bags from incredible Nigerian beauty brands were shared… and the reactions said everything. Excitement. Gratitude. Genuine appreciation. But beyond the gifts, what stood out were the conversations. The same challenges TMUFS addressed when it launched in 2012 - lack of platforms, limited community, and no structured trade spaces are still present in emerging markets like Harare. And in that room, something powerful happened: It wasn’t just a meetup. It was a moment of connection, knowledge-sharing and collective growth. Because building a business is one thing… but scaling the human infrastructure, relationships, trust and community is the real work. Harare was a strong reminder of how far TMUFS has come… and how much further the journey across Africa will go.
