600 events. 600 times we said yes to the vision, yes to the work, yes to showing up. I started The Maby Studio in the spare room of my house, with a dream, a design board, and some samples. Who would have thought that the same room is now the twins' nursery... Looking back, I had no idea where it would take me, what it would demand of me, or what it would give me in return. And what it gave me was everything... It gave me purpose when I needed it most. It gave me relationships that turned clients and vendors who turned into lifelong friends. It gave me nights filled with vision and days filled with relentless creativity. It gave me a team—seasonal, part-time, full-time—who poured their hearts into every detail and made this dream real, over and over again. It gave me an identity while I was building my marriage, my life and my family. I’m beyond proud of the work we’ve done: the late nights, the flawless installs, the impossible turnarounds, the designs that still take my breath away when I think back on them. Life has been so busy I haven't even had a chance to truly take a minute and take it all in. Today we celebrate our 600th event! But, for the rest of this year, I’m celebrating every event, every client, every vendor, every version of me who showed up to do the damn thing, even when it was hard. Because how ironic is it to create celebrations for a living and not celebrate ourselves, right?! We still have a very busy season ahead, but want to preface a sacred and much deserved pause coming in the Fall and a chance to celebrate what this little company has built, what it has meant, and what it has done for me and for us. Hello, friends! 👋🏻 It’s been an exciting 11 months with lots of changes, so I thought it would be a great time to (re)introduce myself to all of you! I’m Ruby, Founder and Principal Designer of The Maby Studio. ✨ In 2017, I created The Maby Studio as a space to bring together my experience in project management, lighting design, interior design, and experience design to craft unforgettable events. The name “Maby” is a blend of my husband Matt and my name— a little personal touch to the business! 💑 Fast forward to today, and after 572 events, we are proud to be Central Alberta’s Premier Experience Design Studio. Though we’re still a family-run business, we’ve grown with the addition of some amazing #bossbabes on our team. This year, we also welcomed two very tiny team members— Ian and Noa— who have certainly turned our world upside down! 👶👶 (Apologies in advance for any delayed responses— they’re somewhat keeping me busy! 😅) As both I and my business have evolved, you might have noticed a few changes in our branding and style. This is all part of our ongoing vision to provide full-service event and project design, where we can immerse ourselves fully in the creative process from start to finish. Our goal is to collaborate closely with our clients and fellow vendors to deliver a bespoke one-of-a-kind experience. As we will focus on providing more personalized, professional design services—including lighting, event design, styling, and setup/takedown—we’ll be scaling back on the number of projects we take on each week to allow for a more curated approach. Additionally, our rental division is getting a refresh! We’ll soon be launching a curated catalogue of unique decor and essential event equipment to help you create your dream celebration. Wedding season 2026 is officially here and we are SO ready for another summer of creating beauty together. ✨🤍 One of the sweetest parts? Our entire dream team from last season is coming back! Which means an experienced crew, familiar faces, lots of laughter, long setup days, and another summer filled with creativity, community, and unforgettable celebrations. 🥂 We’re also beyond excited to announce that Jordyn will be our Team Lead for the 2026 season 🫶✨ This will be her 3rd season with The Maby Studio, and if you’ve worked with her before, you already know how talented, organized, hardworking, and kind she is. We couldn’t imagine a better person to help lead our team this summer. Jordyn shared that stepping into this role means so much to her and that she’s incredibly grateful that Ruby trusted her with this title 🤍 She’s also hoping to see “lots of pastels, fruits, and color this year” and honestly… same 🍓🩷🍊🌼!
