You can never kayak enough, right?
This spring I will embarking on my longest paddle yet. Nearly 2000km around my home province of Nova Scotia. From my home in Lunenburg all the way to well... my home in Lunenburg!
The longest multiday I've been on was 4 days and 3 nights, so to say this is a step up is an understatement. I'm nervous but mostly excited and just want to start paddling now. I want to see Nova Scotia from the seat of my kayak, meet lots of new people, and most importantly have FUN! (Type 2 Fun)
While fun is the key to it all, I'd like to use my journey to bring awareness to something that is personally important to me. As I paddle, I will be raising funds and awareness in support of Men's Mental Health and suicide prevention for Movember. Thank you to Movember for partnering with me on this expedition. Your support means everything.
Links and more information will start to appear on this account over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
The downwind is good for paddling, terrible for audio. Huge day on the ticker, the lobster boat crews had some pretty wide eyes seeing me come down along the coast.
On a windy day Lukas Dee did 72 km in 9.5 hours. It was 3°C with the windchill of -2 and a really strong tail wind from the north.
Is this guy a man or a machine?

A young and ambitious gentleman by the name of Lucas is paddling around Nova Scotia to raise awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention. This guy is a machine!!

The first day of this trip where I didn't make it to where I was planning to that morning. Tough pill to swallow, but tomorrow is looking a little better. The forecast seems to want to keep me on this island for quite a bit longer than I had bargained for.
In other news, I peed out of my kayak on the water today and didn't make a mess. Small wins.😅
Against the Wind... constantly. You might have noticed my tracker hasn't been online in a few days. The wind and swell have kept me off the ocean, and it looks like it will continue to do so for another few days at least. Doing my best to use good judgement, be patient, and not worry about the long term forecast too much, especially for this next section around to Cheticamp.
You might catch me enjoying the rain (iykyk)!
