Quinn my beloved š (and if you scroll far enough, some extra snippets of another piece that will also feature on the next Daria-themed zine from @thescreeverzine )
Itās been so interesting rewatching Daria as an adult and seeing Quinn in a whole new light. Particularly as I identified so much with Daria as a teenager, with a sister that felt so much like her at the time. Itās like watching a whole new show, and I absolutely adore her - confident, outgoing, socially smart, kinda maybe polyam? A queen š
trying to sketch more often, sketch from reference, sketch rough just to get ideas down, sketch things I donāt usually draw, sketch without getting too precious about it
Straight from the #2016 archives - turns out it was actually a pretty huge and pivotal year for me!
- lots of drawing, all traditional media, didnāt get into digital til 2017 when I got my first iPad (still the one I use today)
- co-ran Comic Creative Jam events
- quit my job at an unnamed shop that traumatised me for life lmao
- went to California for/with an incredible bestie, her family made me feel like an additional daughter š
- got my first big surge in IG followers/popularity doing inktober
- ran my first Lino printing workshop & made my first zine about it!
- made some hand drawn illustrations that have never seen the light of day
- moved in with a (now ex) partner, first time doing that
- had 3/4 of my rats
- was maybe briefly a full time freelance illustrator??
- co-organised one (maybe more?) LaDIYfest events in Bristol
- started watching Star Trek, Iām still obsessed (though tos doesnāt do much for me tbh)
- just drewā¦a lot. And made lots of merch/did a bunch of markets.
Idk probably did a lot of other cool & fun stuff I canāt remember, and went through some shitty stuff I also canāt remember. Looking back I definitely made plenty of pieces I still absolutely adore (the mirror one is framed and hanging in my living room to this day, the helga one I lost soon after making and canāt find file or original anywhereeee so might have to redraw it tbh). Feels like a very different vibe to right now, both in how the world works, how IG and connecting through it works, how I feel about my creativity and in the way I approach it. I look at photos from this year and see so much hopefulness and energy (though Iām sure there were plenty of lows that werenāt shared online), Iām a little jealous ngl.
goodbye 2025 you fickle bitch.
the highs were alright but the lows were fucking devastating.
The good stuff (in no particular order):
- incredible friends
- getting to see family more
- an unbelievable trip to Cape Town
- an unlikely weekend in Ibiza
- lots of time spent in bed with Casper
- a wedding (not mine)
- a festival (not working)
- the best hair year I've maybe ever had
- lots of dressing up
- reconnecting with old friends
- two aquarium trips
- feeling loved
- making and eating lots of great food
- some gigs, some dancing (never enough though)
- letting myself feel more
- a job I feel settled in but also care about a lot
- doing some arty things, including workshops & meetups as @artratsbristol and exhibiting in London
- getting a new studio space (although it's still barely been used)
Some of the bad stuff:
- losing Casper, my heart, my shadow
- feeling aimless
- being real fucking depressed
- crying so much the skin on my cheeks was raw
- never having any fucking money
- I mean, the state of the world, have you seen it
- finishing clearing my grandparents' flat & saying goodbye to it forever
- never being able to get rid of enough clutter
So bring on 2026, I hope you'll be at least a little more gentle.
Sharing a few more pics of the time I spent at @silverandsteelstudios earlier in the year as part of their āFriends of the Galleryā project, when they invited a group of local artists to try silversmithing for (mostly) the first time. It was so great to see how everyoneās practice changed and adapted to the medium, and how we all created pieces that are so different from our usual work, yet so intrinsically & obviously ours.
I really wanted to try my hand at wax carving and ended up using both hard wax to carve into, and soft wax to shape, and am so in love with the pendants I made. I had so many ideas for potential designs, but the ones I chose still somehow took on a life of their own through the process and I absolutely adore and am tickled by the fact they both ended up with moving, fidgety parts - the lips have their own piercing on a totally disconnected ring so it spins and moves, and the harness has the tiniest chain on it that is only attached at the carved o-rings (thank you so much @bethanymaysilver for suggesting this was possible and for painstakingly soldering it on!).
I might post more about these if you want to see more, theyāre also both still available at @silverandsteelstudios if you want to make them yours š Silver & Steel also very recently got broken into and robbed so they could definitely do with some extra support! Theyāre an absolutely incredible space for jewellery makers and jewellery lovers, as well as anyone curious about trying silversmithing.

Hi everyone! Big news : I have a shop again āØ
Long story short, my sweet cuddly boy Casper is old and sick and vet bills have been ongoing, and as itās been over a year since he was first diagnosed insurance wonāt cover any more costs. So, Iāve opened a shop again to sell some prints from the stacks I have just sitting at home. Iāve kept it simple with mystery bundles, but if thereās something youāve been eyeing up for ages make sure to leave a note on checkout or dm me here and Iām sure we can sort something out (defeats the mystery part a little but hey, first and foremost I aim to please and give you what you want!).
If you want to hire me for a commission, nowās the time to do it! Just dm me, let me know what youāre after and your price range and weāll sort something out š
āØ
I closed my Ćtzy last year because the fees and regulations had become ridiculously expensive and complicated, and havenāt been selling any work aside from the odd market - Iāve had many requests for where to buy my work though so maybe this will be a step towards being a little more available and active as an artist and illustrator. To note - itāll be UK only as anything overseas entails way more complications than I can fathom right now.
Every purchase, share, donation, commission will be incredibly helpful in covering Casperās costs, as vet visits and medication to keep him comfortable have been draining an already incredibly shallow pond. Iāll also be so grateful if it stretches to supporting me financially a little more as well (cause the cozzie livs & is brutal, particularly paired with fluctuating mental health).
āØ
I took Casper in off the streets back in 2017, after he accosted me and screamed at me every evening for a week straight every time I walked past the house his last owner had moved out of (without taking him). I jokingly say he picked me but he really did. Since then heās been my shadow and a huge chunk of my heart, he is the cuddliest boy and has warmed the hearts of even the most non-cat people I know. Weāve had such an impact on each otherās lives, and Iāll be so grateful for any more time I get to spend with him while heās still happy and not in pain š
Last day to go see hotMarge in person at @eroticartexhibition ! And all the rest of the gorgeous art there š„°
Also sheās for sƤle and in the biggest format Iāve ever printed her in (aka A2) so someone should definitely grab her! āØšš
