When you talk about Livin' Proof, you’re talking about one of the purest distillations of the mid-90s boom-bap aesthetic.
Even though it was Group Home’s debut, the DNA of the Gang Starr Foundation was all over it.
This is the original collage for the album cover—the raw bones before the graphics. No filters, no digital tricks, just the street-level reality of Lil' Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker.
The Premier Touch:
This album is often cited as DJ Premier’s absolute peak. He didn't just produce it; he crafted a sonic atmosphere that was dark, dusty, and unapologetically Brooklyn. I wanted the visuals to hit exactly how those beats felt.
The Tech:
To get that grit, I used a Polaroid 600e series on Polaroid Pos/Negative film 669. That 669 stock was legendary—it gave you a high-quality large format negative with all the raw, unpolished texture of the NY concrete. It wasn't about being "pretty"; it was about being real.
The Gang Starr Foundation represents a standard. We weren't just making "content"—we were building monuments.
The vault is officially open. 📖
