Two years ago, we handed the keys of the Boa Vista Spirit to eight indigenous Venezuelan communities living in the Waraotuma a Tuaranoko shelter, who made it their own and turned it into their ‘lighthouse’.

Throwback to last week’s Eid celebrations at the KLABU in Azraq refugee camp 🇯🇴 where 300 people came together with dancing, games, and gifts.

Our clubhouses came together celebrating iftar, dancing, playing football, and good vibes that lasted deep into the night.
What a moment! ❤️🤍 During the @fc_emmen vs @adodenhaag match last friday, the players walked onto the pitch hand in hand with children wearing the KLABU Ter Apel Spirit ‘Feel at Home’-shirt, designed by 10 year old @alfbarbelwit together with refugee children at our clubhouse in Ter Apel.
At various asylum seeker centres in the region, @fcemmen_naoberschap gives children with a refugee background a warm welcome through football training sessions. Sport is used as a tool to have fun, build social connections and create a sense of belonging. A perfect match with KLABU and the ‘Feel at Home’ shirt! 🏡⚽🫱🏼🫲🏾

Deze getalenteerde kunstenaar van 10 jaar bezocht ons clubhuis in Ter Apel, organiseerde een creatieve workshop met de gevluchte kinderen en liet zich inspireren door hun tekeningen, verhalen en potjes voetbal samen, dwars door taalbarrières heen.
Zijn startpunt is de kleur groen: een symbool van vrede, hoop en de moed om opnieuw te beginnen. Het groen groeit uit tot een ritme van lijnen, kleuren en lagen. Een visuele vertaling van veerkracht.
“Het shirt staat voor verbinding en voor het idee dat uit elke lijn weer iets nieuws kan groeien.” 💚🎨
Voor iedereen die de Ter Apel Spirit en KLABU wil supporten, is het ‘Voel je Thuis-shirt’ nu verkrijgbaar in limited edition voor kinderen en volwassenen via onze webshop en in onze store in Amsterdam. Dit project is gerealiseerd met steun van de Kinderportemonnee, een speciaal fonds van @kinderpostzegels waarbij kinderen de bestemming kiezen 🙌🏽

Afgelopen jaar verbleven meer dan 4000 alleenstaande minderjarige asielzoekers in de Nederlandse opvang. Kinderen van gemiddeld 16 jaar oud die zonder familie zijn gevlucht. Alleen.
Ze komen aan in Ter Apel waar alles nieuw is. Een onbekende omgeving, onbekende mensen, een onzekere toekomst.
Sinds 2022 creëert het KLABU clubhuis in Ter Apel met sport en spel momenten van ontspanning en verbinding. Een plek waar even niet alles zwaar hoeft te zijn. Waar vriendschappen ontstaan. Waar ruimte is voor hoop en voor een nieuw begin.
Nu zetten we samen een volgende stap.
Met de jonge kunstenaar @alfbarbelwit en de kinderen in Ter Apel introduceren we het ‘Voel je Thuis-shirt’. Voor een Nederland waarin iedereen zich welkom en thuis kan voelen.
