hey Mom,
itās been a while since I wrote you. I donāt know how time works in heaven but 254 days have gone by here on earth.
First & foremost I want you to know that Iām okay. I love & miss you more than any words could describe but recently Iāve been feeling your energy flowing through me in ways I can describe. The year before you got sick I was struggling & you knew that I was depressed. Itās really hard to be off trail lost in the mountains knowing thereās a path to get back onto but you canāt find it. During that year I watched you retire from a lifelong career of teaching & then immediately jump in to take care of grandma. The motherly instinct inside you was the strongest force of nature Iāve ever experienced & the nurturing energy you poured into me will never leave. The love & energy you gifted to the world was felt by so many & will continue to be spread through the spirit inside of me that you birthed into existence. I just had another āone of those weekendsā with my two brothers from another angelic mother at @hulaweenfl !! Last year when I visited for the first time I told you it was āone of a kindā & year 2 definitely reinforced that.
11 years ago when my friends & I bought tickets to @northcoastfest we wanted to see @zedsdead & because of my friends, a lot of dreaming & a whole lotta love I did my first ever multicam performance coverage with the boys & queen over at @obskurastudios . Iāve always dreamed of a tree cam capturing the lasers rip through the leaves. job still aināt finished!!! weāre just getting started!
Iām so proud of who I am. I know you are too. Thank you for igniting that flame deep inside my soul and setting my spirit on fire. Itās a dark world but thereās nothing thatāll stop me from being a bright light.

in 2014 I attended my first @northcoastfest I was 16 & my sophomore year had just started. a group of my friends had gone the year before & hyped it up for its 5th anniversary bc on Sunday they had Snoop Dogg, Zeds Dead, Riff Raff & Griz performing. We rode the train into the city walked to union park & headed over to the 630 stage bc that was also our area code! at 1:30pm we watched local Chicago artist Saba perform. This was my introduction to a very special era of the hip hop scene in Chicago. aka the union park era when Northcoast was a multi genre festival. griz into zeds dead was a highlight as rebel era / zeds dead edc set that year was the soundtrack to my summer. snoop headlined & we hopped back on the train home.
the buzz from NC took us to skrillex & a$ap ferg at Navy Pier where Louis the Child opened.. my friends made it in the recap video at this point we were hitting every show we could.
I went back in 2015,16&18 highlights from those years include eating orange chicken with Jauz after his set, Joey purp & kami (furthering my interest in Chicago hip hop), meeting kill the noise, the chemical brothers, witnessing action Bronson in the flesh, Odesza!!!!!, the lyrical lemonade takeover stage before summer smash existed & so many more core memories w my friends.
In 2019 @teddydemask & I did photo/video for Kyle Walker, Covid hit & then in 2021 Squantto asked us to help w social content. It was my first time ever working on a media team & an experience Iāll never forget.
In 2022 I started touring w veil but still made it 2 NC bc KAYTRANADA was performing & I wanted to check out the festival that shaped & molded me into the human I was & to reconnect with old friends.
In 2023 I was back working on media team & got pulled by my friends to hold an envelope with VIP tickets inside. tons of people walked by until Jorge. the rest is history.
Back & better than ever in 2024 doing what I love with the people I love at the place I love. I had an absolute blast running around connecting w the coasties in a whole new way. impossible without teddy & Squantto pushing me. thank u
