Hey, Delano… it’s been a minute. 💃 Walking into the newly renovated @delanomiamibeach —closed for 6 years—felt like stepping straight back into the heyday of South Beach in the ’90s. I still remember its original 1995 rebirth with Kelly Klein, Madonna, and Ingrid Casares—and, of course, the opening of Liquid (but that’s a post for another time). @ianschrager brought his signature magic to Miami Beach, and for years, the Delano reigned as the chicest hotel in town. Philippe Starck’s flowy curtains were widely copied the world over. The Rose Bar was always the perfect place to start—or end—the night. Being back, memories came rushing in. It’s almost like the space holds onto them—you turn a corner and suddenly you’re transported, flooded with flashes of nights that defined an era. And the pool! It feels more iconic than ever. The new Delano is stunning—still minimalist, but now with a refined, quiet-luxury edge. With @benpundole and @msvioletcamacho at the helm, and restaurants like @mimikakushimiami and @gigi_restaurant_roma , there’s a sense that glamour might just be making a comeback in Miami. Spring Break Girls Trip 🛥️ Hannah and I spent a week cruising on a micro cruise ship. The experience was appropriately luxe, despite high winds and even higher seas. 🌊🌊🌊 The highlight was undoubtedly our first stop in Samana, where we embarked upon a whale watching tour 🐋 When I heard it was the last tour of the season, I knew we were in luck - because whales are kind of our thing! Sure enough, it was a spectacular moment. We watched a mother and her calf frolicking—and even breach—for over an hour 🐋 It was magical, and our third whale experience in two years (with more being planned soon). While that was really our only major excursion, we did make a stop at Great Inaugua, which few people see, and trek to the lighthouse. That afternoon, it was all about watersports including jet skiing and a banana boat ride, which let’s just say was my last banana boat ride. 🍌 The rest of the trip was a blur of gourmet meals, rosé all day, cards and even a rainbow from my dad 🌈 And we made new friends who were incredibly kind to Hannah and me, @journeysbyjeannine 🛥️ You can read all about my trip in the June issue of @aventuramagazine . #cruiselife #travelwriter #whalewatching #springbreak
