The Poppy Headband test knit application is live!! This adorable accessory set lets you match with your furry friends in style. Itâs a super quick beginner-friendly knit, and a lot of fun! The test knit application is linked in my bio đś
The project uses bulky weight yarn (or worsted weight held double). Any yarn may be used for the test knit, but sample yarn info is below:
𩷠The pink sample was knit with @barabarasoftwares bulky yarn (discount available for testers upon request). Itâs an incredibly beautiful, soft merino yarn made from Wyoming sheep and hand dyed by a San Francisco artist using dyes made from plants and bugs!Â
𧥠The orange sample was knit with Cascade 220 held double purchased at @theimagiknit :-)
Test knitting is a huge help for small designers like me, and it would mean the world if you applied or shared this with your pet-loving friends!! đ

What do you dream of creating?
This week is the annual Bay Area Yarn Crawl @bayareayarncrawl , where 20+ local yarn shops around the Bay Area participate in a festival of fiber. I purchased this @malabrigoyarn silk yarn from @theimagiknit in Berkeley at last yearâs crawl and returned this year to show off my creation â a golden shawl that has accompanied me to two weddings and countless outings. Itâs my favorite project to date and I am so proud of the final product after many hours of frustration, unraveling, and trying again.
The process is often just as important as the end result. Itâs where we learn, grow, and triumph!
Message me if youâre interested in private or small group crochet lessons! Letâs grow together!

Did I mention that we have a new rainbow mini set debuting at @theimagiknit for the @bayareayarncrawl ? The Castro Rainbow was created to honor the neighborhood that gave the fiber community both the shopâs original location, and me!
Yes friends, Iâm not only a proud San Francisco native, I grew up in the Castro. My parents lived at the corner of 18th & Castro in the early years of their marriage and beginning of my life, and they are still in the neighborhood. It gets deeper - my mom also grew up in the Castro!
You all know how much I love my hometown and have been honoring it through yarn colorways (Army Street, Twinkie Defense, Karl the Fog, #HaightAshburyLife, to name a few) but itâs been a minute since weâve had something new for the city. Well, the wait is over!
Each colorway was inspired by the rainbow crosswalks at the corner of 18th & Castro and honors different places (or people) that youâll find:
⢠Cliffâs Variety - Hardware, gifts and my first tiara. Trust me, just go there (and they have fabric next door).
⢠Uncle Joe Muni - (old lady voice) back in my day, the Muni busses were a groovy, 70âs orange and were referred to (at least by my classmates) as Uncle Joe Muni. As in, âhey, how are you getting home from school?â If the response was âUncle Joeâ we knew it meant the bus.
⢠The Gold LamĂŠ Guy - naked guy save for a small piece of gold lamĂŠ on his nether region. Heâs out when the weather is good and usually has other similarly (un)dressed friends. #NoTanLines
⢠Dolores Park - itâs where one goes when itâs nice out, and a fun (and free) place to hang out. Yes, it will smell like weed.
⢠Moby Dick is one of many gay bars in the area and any stories I may have from youthful partying at said bars will NOT be shared on the internet!
⢠Kasa - itâs an Indian restaurant and you canât miss it if you pass by as itâsâŚpurple! This is my special spot with my mom and itâs been too long since my last visit.
Mini sets are available at the SF location of #ImagiKnit on Butter Sock and Butter Sparkle. Iâll bring some in Butter Sock DK Thursday for Knit Night/my Fireside Chat!
Whatâs your favorite spot in the Castro?
