Now with spring in full swing, bursting at the seams with blooming flowers and the bristling invitation to spend all of ones time outside, I'm reminiscent of those quiet winter days. The ones where you gather the wood, stoke the fire, feed the chickens, and then get down to wittling away on fanciful fingerings and distant melodies.
This is a reminder to keep the balance. As we un-entrench ourselves out from under the cold and buzz around to our various spring rituals, let's keep some space for the quiet and contemplative occasions that lend perspective and inspire action.

Journey to 1.1km follows a gang of crazy Canadians as they attempt to build and walk Canada's longest highline. A highline is like a tightrope, only much looser! They swing in the middle of huge expanses, between waterfalls and mountain tops. And so for the music, I did some research and explorations into traditional Adirondack and Cascadian mountain music styles: open tunings like DADGAD, clawhammer striking techniques, brash optimism and a restless sense of triumph.
