I’m going to miss the Metrocard. So I made a big one out of felt. Swipe to see the tiniest A you’ve ever seen and the reason why I didn’t do the white text on the bottom. Are you team Metrocard or OMNY?
A behind the scenes look at the poster I designed and fabric-ated for @southeasternproductionservices upcoming film A Whole Lotta Water.
Inspired by some playful details in the film, I decided to take a “practical effects” approach and make this poster out of laser cut felt. No filters or photoshopped effects here, you’re looking at a photo, not a render.
I drew thumbnail illustrations to prove out the concept and then made felt shapes corresponding to each part of the drawing.
The hardest part was making micro adjustments to the felt’s layout because it tended to behave like Velcro.
Really satisfied with how this turned out and a special thanks to the SEPS crew for trusting my vision.
