✨ Today was a very big day for us. ✨ With the support of our incredible community and the advocacy of Senator Lela Alston and Representative Sarah Liguori, the state of Arizona has officially recognized the Original Chopped Salad as a celebrated part of Arizona’s cultural identity. What started as a humble dish in 1997 by Chef Bernie, has become a state-recognized staple, forever woven into the fabric of Arizona’s food history. This moment is more than just a proclamation — it’s a celebration of the creativity, consistency, and culture that Chef Bernie has brought to the table. It’s a nod to the generations of guests who made this dish part of their lunch ritual, first dates, and family traditions. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. This day is for all of you salad fans, it’s for Bernie, and it’s for all local Arizona restaurants that serve as the cornerstones of our community. Now let’s eat some chopped salads, it’s a state recognized culinary icon after all 💚

Summer in Phoenix is brutal for local restaurants. Tourists leave to beat the heat and travel throughout the state slows but the chains keep their lights on because they can absorb it. A modern market, restaurant & bar built on a shared foundation of thoughtful ingredients, genuine hospitality, and creating experiences that bring people together. From morning coffee to late night pasta, it’s designed to feel like your neighborhood spot — with a refined sense of intention behind every detail. Chef Bernie is ready & excited to flex some new creative muscles here, building an ingredient-driven, seed-oil free menu alongside Perry Rea and pizzaiolo Agostino Trentacoste. Wm Cadenhead 31 single malt bottled at Caol Ila Distillery on the Isle of Islay. This was splendid and ranks with one of my faves ever. Smooth, deep, with less peat than I expected. It was the inimitable Gene Kelly’s dance to “Heather on the Hills” from Brigadoon in a glass. I found this bottle at The Gladly in Phoenix, which had a terrific bourbon and single malt list to go along with my perfectly cooked medium-rare ribeye steak. @wmcadenheads @caolila.distillery @thegladly #bourboncuseontheroad #spiritanimalsociety #bourbongram #bourbonlover
