Thank you to everyone who helped celebrate my birthday this year!! 2026 is already turning into one of the better years of my life in a minute and this weekend greatly contributed to it.
Mortal Kombat 2 turned out to be genuinely great and one of the best video game adaptations yet. That nonsensical 285 shutdown got delayed for weather that never was. Which ended up being the perfect weather for us to get outdoor food and drinks.

Halloween Super Mario Party Party Party 2024!!
In celebration of the release of Super Mario Party Jamboree, I had to throw a Mario Party. One of my favorite parties I've ever thrown and loved how everybody turned out for this in all the costumes. The amount of Shy Guys was a very pleasant surprise. This is a theme I absolutely will have to revisit in the future.

Streets of Rage 4 released 5 years ago (yesterday)!! One of my most anticipated video games ever and it exceeded every single one of my expectations to a level that very few video games have come close to in my life. I was just excited for a new Streets of Rage and what we got was something that dethroned Streets of Rage 2 as the greatest beat em up ever as well as one of the greatest love letters to a fandom ever. You can play as all (but one) of the Streets of Rage characters in all of their 16 Bit Sega Genesis Sprites glory. It's amazing and an all time top 25 for me

My rankings of all the 2024 movies I got around to watching.
2024 will go down as one of my favorite movie years ever. Action movies were in abundance and mostly fantastic. Sonic 3 was incredible. We had a couple great coming of age movies in "Snack Shack" and "My Old Ass." We finally got a proper Transformers movie and it was brilliant. There were loads of original movies that are now all time favorites of mine. And to top it off, I was disappointed by only a few of my most anticipated movies.

"The Pop Tart Board Game Night of 2020"
One of my all time favorite themed hangouts. Back in pre-pandemic 2020, what was supposed to be snacking out on pop tarts and playing board games, turned into a proper Pop Tarts Tasting. I'd love to do this again

(Saw Sonic 3 on opening night, so I'm late with this review, but whatever.)
SONIC 3 WAS INCREDIBLE.
It is the best video game movie adaptation yet*. They finally figured out exactly what the fans want and that's strictly Sonic characters. They have to keep Donut Lord and Maddie at this point, and wouldn't be right without them now, but they were used only as needed. 95% of the movie was just Sonic Adventure 2 the movie (minus a few characters).
The story was perfect. The action was spot on. The comraderie between Sonic & his friends was perfect. Keanu Reeves as Shadow was perfect. It's full of loads of aspects from the video games, but used to perfection where it all fits into the story perfectly. I loved it all.
And it goes without saying that as increasingly great all of the Sonic aspects have gotten, Jim Carrey has been the best part of these movies and somehow got better across the trilogy. Him playing opposite himself for a majority of the movie is a fantastic choice that we're all spoiled to be able to experience. Robotnik and his Grandfather are brilliant together and I can't believe they pulled off a random dance sequence that was actually entertaining. Carrey has turned this into a classic role that sits comfortably alongside his legendary run in the 90's.
I can't recommend Sonic 3 enough and people need to stop wasting their time with Mufasa and go see this if they haven't yet.
*I wanna say the best adaptation overall, but that's a lie when The Last of Us, Castlevania and Arcane tv shows exist.

Ever since I saw Spider-Man 2 it has always been a dream to work on Marvel. I've worked on multiple second units and reshoots, but this was my first main unit Marvel job from beginning to end and I couldn't have asked for a better one.
Agatha All Along is one of my favorite shows I ever got to work on. Both behind and in front of the camera, everybody was fantastic. I'm so happy how everything turned out and how much so many people enjoyed it. Especially the response to Episode 7. Resetting those Tarot Cards and hammering swords into the floor goes up there as one of my favorite experiences ever. Also building that great and ridiculous fake car
We had a birthday tradition on the show where our key grip Jack would always manage to trick the birthday person into doing some random things in the middle of set to have the crew sing Happy Birthday. One of the best traditions that brought us all together
I miss being able to do this every day so much.

Finally got to play NBA Superstars at @myparentsbasement and it's so awesome to finally have a new NBA Jam homage. It does so much right with respect to the original. Fast arcade play, huge dunks from anywhere inside the arc, and Tim Kitzrow announcing. My main issues are that the game automatically chooses your teammates (I think?), the pushes are much less violent, and my biggest issue is every single dunk was in slow motion. Also the dunks also weren't as bonkers as they were in the classics.
Overall a solid 7.5/10 that I'll be revisiting every single chance I make my way to MPB and hopefully with more play time, my opinion of it will be even more positive.
