✨what✨ is SUZETTE?
SUZETTE is an interdisciplinary meta-drama that explores the rise and fall of Suzette - a fictional Old Hollywood starlet. Through the eyes of a Biographer earnestly reporting Suzette’s history to an Interviewer with questionable motives, the stage is immersed with flashbacks of Suzette’s haunting art and spirit. As tensions rise, the boundaries of then and now dissipate and we step into Suzette’s Vaudevillian world - where all are faced with sorting reality from delusion.

Next, we will be revealing WHY playwright @meganmargarett began conceptualizing SUZETTE almost 5 years ago.

🎨 Artistic Director, Playwright, Performer
Megan is a passionate creative with a love for the nonsensical. Her scorpio rising takes flight as her mission to transmute the realities of mental health into performance art actualizes through The Frette Universe. She earned her BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2019, and utilizes her choreographic worldview to create movement centered theatre. SUZETTE is Meg’s debut as both title character and playwright. She is thrilled to bring SUZETTE to life alongside her brilliant collaborators.

🎭 Assistant Director, Producer
After randomly moving to Whidbey Island, Washington, Aly met Meg and wound up collaborating on a Frette piece for a local contemporary dance performance. It was love at first sight. Aly has spent her early 20s performing various shakespearean roles with the Drilling Company in NY and was thrilled to relocate to Austin, TX in her later years to connect with the Filigree theater company focusing on classic works. When she’s not working, Aly spends her time enjoying the island with her husband, two children and tiny dog.

Gloria Alcalá is a theatre artist and educator based in Seattle and New York City. Though they hold a BFA in Theatre from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA), Gloria is a classic band kid multi-hyphonate - working as an actor, playwright, musician, and director. Their verbatim, documentary-style solo show An Endless Shift premiered Off-Broadway in March 2023 at the United Solo Festival after the January 2023 world premiere production at ArtsWest in Seattle - which was Directed by Mathew Wright and co-devised by Alma Davenport. SUZETTE is Gloria’s Directorial debut outside of education. @gloalcala
