Another of the droids I had a pretty big involvement in for The Acolyte- the Pilot Droids! I have to say, I wasn't a big fan of the design for these two to begin with, but it grew on me and I think they looked great on set. Very happy to actually see the folding mechanic was used in the show too!
I did the 3d modelling for the physical components of this, working with
@karlgallivan , who designed and built the animatronics and folding/unfolding mechanism. I also got to design a few of the components for them, including their hands, the expanding heads, and the spinning dial on the side of their heads. They never unfolded to interact with the console which is a shame, but they worked both ways!
@samijohnson123 did a bunch of the modelmaking for their shells with me, and Droids HOD
@paulszebesta helped out to get them through the crunch too.
@matt.hart87 also got involved to make all the electronics work, and I think got to play them on set, and
@leetowersey also helped out with some modelmaking, and their LED panel eyes.
