What started off as a simple conversation in 2024, led to so much more.
Am really grateful to have been invited by
@abc_artroom as part of the
@kochibiennale , (the people’s bienalle 2025-26), for a fabulous four day paper mache workshop in December. It was humbling to be a small part of such a mammoth festival.
I had the best hosts in
@blaisejoseph76 and
@ma_l_oo who made me feel at ease from day one.
From their team was
@catchyaalater_ who was the assigned volunteer. She is one of the loveliest young people I have worked with in recent times. She made me think there is still hope for us all. always smiling, taking on all my requests, demands and a calm, gentle demeanour. As always, Much for me to learn.
And what can I say about the participants! Many will attest that participants are equally important to the success of a space like this. As part of this workshop we had doctors, researchers, deep sea divers, designers, writers, artists and travellers. They each personified in the form of masks, eco/environmental issues around kochi, or where they came from.
we had representations of animal human habitat conflict, mangrove depletion, sea life getting affected due to oil spills, introduced species that affect a local ecosystem- and some of us even looked inward for environmental issues that might arise from technology. Stunning outputs by every one of the participants. May I request you to please write back to me, if you see the post, and I will tag you?
Overall, apart from having a chance to see the bienalle and its art after eight years, it was just amazing to be enveloped with so much love, kinship and belonging that fort Kochi, the island (and its people) never fails to provide.
