The Radiohead installation & film ‘KID A MNESIA’ deep in the heart of the Brooklyn navy yards is quite a spectacle to behold. The building is huge with towering ceilings so being site specific really adds to the smoky vibes. Separately the art and film are worthy of attention but together it’s really impactful. The highlight is the amazing 75 min film on 4 massive screens with quadrophonic sound that you watch seated or laying down. Worth the hefty price of entry? Hard to say as there are a lot of factors to consider but if you go, my advice is to get higher than the sun first. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. #artinstallation #radiohead #art

A Red Tie Nite of Noizz & Words (part 2) …. the latter half of Sunday nite brought in the sultry sounds of @sylviablackmusic and the sonic mayhem of @genreisdeath closing out their record release party with spectacular performances from both bands. I had a blast tossing myself around the pit like a dying ragdoll and despite having earplugs I surprisingly didn’t really need them because the Bose PA system in that small room handled the sound impressively well. Hilarious rocknroll stories from Stu Spasm and @therealbobbert kept things moving along nicely. Kim Gordon’s art exhibit in Bushwick is kinda MEH to be honest, the bush was the best thing about it and I’m not entirely sure it was even part of her work. However, the other artists that she curated in the other rooms were far more interesting with some really cool pieces. The actual gallery is absolutely beautiful in its design and it has a lovely sculpture garden as well as a second gallery with a cafe directly across the street. Definitely worth a visit , it’s literally a block behind all the music venues on Meadow st. Bucket list band, Dirty Three gleefully ticked off the list. Warren Ellis’ largely improv trio bringing down the house at the wonderful @pioneerworks deep in Red Hook. Taking time off from his duties with Nick Cave for a rare tour, try and catch this show on the road if you can. Really mind blowing stuff, deeply inspiring and a treat for the senses. It also has to be said that this venue is incredible. Nice size and beautiful outdoor area with a grotto and upper levels above the bar so you can hear and watch the band through the windows, perfect for the spring weather. Bit of a hike but worth it.
