I’ve been dreaming of designing my own book since I was a kid. So this is a real pinch me moment. And a very lucky thing to be working alongside another book lover @rivbennett who was equally eager to make this thing.
As a designer it’s really nice to be my own client… and work with someone who likes pretty much all the same things I do. So fun to lay out each page and play with words and photos and colour and space with no one to please but ourselves. There’s type that dances over a photo and type that demands attention. Some pages shout at full volume and some quietly whisper the sacred.
We’ve been impossibly fussy about all the custom finishes (which is definitely not a good choice for the profit margin… but it’s half the reason I want to make a book). Corporate greed is not our compass. I want to hold this thing. Finally in print, and not on a glossy slick screen… but weighty, tactile and something human hands will adore. The linen! The extra wide ribbon! The white screen print that so perfectly overlaps the blind debossing!
And of course it’s red. Again, something Riv and I are in total alignment on — RED FOREVER. It’s funny that when people think of motherhood they assign it pastel tones… we don’t see it that way. It’s not remotely soft and cutesy. It’s passionate. Its bold. It’s in your face. It’s iconic. It’s red.
Pre-orders help make it happen. So thank you for backing us. Means the world.
We hope you love this as much as we’ve loved making it.

There is no greater compliment than a returning client and so many of you are! We can't tell you how much we love capturing your births and families as they grow. We had the priviledge to shoot this goregous familys wedding day and then we got a call when they were pregnant for the first time a few years ago - they had a boy - and now that boy a big brother! Love this family of 4! For more info on all our packages head to link in bio and request an info kit ✨✨

Next Day // some of the most special moments we capture are sibling meets. Sometimes sibling meets are same day as your birth and sometimes we come back the next day. It's whatever you are most comfortable with. Either way we get some banging shots and how incredible special to keep them as a memory forever ✨
FAQ - Should I get a birth photographer? Can't my family jsut take photos?Outside the birth of your baby, your wedding was probably the biggest day of your life. You probably had a professional photographer, or even two, to cover that event. You wanted to trust the final product would represent your special day and have all your love ones relaxed and in the shots.
Having an experienced birth photographer there will ensure that your birth story is told through powerful images of raw human emotion. It will give you the details that you might miss from your hospital bed. It allows your family to support you and not to worry about missing a moment. It ensures the little details are captured that someone less experienced might not think to photograph. It allows your husband to hold your hand and be fully present. The hours of labour and delivery will pass just as quickly as the hours of your wedding day but your birth photographer will make sure you have the details of the day captured to relive for years to come.
HAIL TO THE MOTHER
Mother’s Day arrives with its own kind of weather. Bright and clear for some, heavy and stormy for others, and often both at once.
Motherhood is not a singular story but a layered one: made of arrivals and absences, of beginnings that are loud and others that are heartbreakingly quiet. It begins long before the first cry, and it continues in ways language often struggles to express.
Today we think of all mothers everywhere. Those with babies in their arms. Those with empty ones. We think of the women who took the place of matriarch within the inner circle, of grandmothers and aunts, sisters and cousins.
There is no hierarchy here, only recognition: that love has many forms, and none of them are lesser for being different.
However this day finds you, however the weather, we hope you are met with gentleness, moments of joy and celebration of what it means to be a mother.
Where would we be without the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart.
Our muses, always and forever. XO
This Mother’s Day, we’re honouring the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart in all its forms.
The joy. The grief. The love that keeps going anyway.
Some motherhood stories don’t begin with a cry, but with silence. Meet Koreen — her twins, her loss, and her hard-won fight that brought us to the operating theatre at RPA on March 24th. Read their story (LINK IN BIO)
FAQ - Will the images be flattering?Although you may not feel your prettiest, we honestly think a curvy woman full with child, bringing a new life into the world is one of the most stunning sights ever. You may be self-conscious about extra pregnancy kilos you've gained or you might cringe at the thought of a camera in your sweaty face as you push. But we do everything we can to capture you BEAUTIFULLY. These aren't glamour photos, to be sure, but we are very intentional about composing our shots so they capture your best.
