"send me ur album" ©️ 2026 For my portfolio project, I’ve re-contextualised Grindr profiles to transform them into a piece of art. Grindr has traumatised the queer community, specificially its male users. The expression “send me ur album” refers to the transaction of private imagery designed to be transferable but not screenshotable. As a result, it has normalised and created a false safety net hooking its consumer into hookup culture. Often many images on Grindr are perhaps perceived as “strange” or “bad taste”, which reinforces them to remain in Grindr’s dark cyberspace. Grindr’s graphic design is orientated towards obscurity, the logo itself carries connations of alarm (yellow) and anonimity (mask). So @joseph_.87 and I went to the National Portrait Gallery and re-photographed specific profiles to illuminate them into works of art. By using established images of “high taste” paintings, sculptures and photograph, I propose the argument that there is beauty in these profiles, depicting real characters. thank you @alleswrld222 for the polaroid
