Hello, I’m Dirk.
Thanks and welcome to all who have followed a long over the last week or so! I’m having a blast singing my heart out to songs we’ve all loved over the decades. I’m almost finished with some full length covers for streaming, as well as an EP of original songs which I’m PSYCHED about. Love you all and thanks for listening. Hit me in the comments with any cover requests you got 🩵🤘🏻

Clifton had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. He is the last living sibling.
It’s been almost a year since my interview with Clifton. Life got away from me but I finally finished his story this week.
Can’t wait to finally share it.
SOON!
“What was Dawn like as a kid?”
“Dawn? Dawn. Was you the one we adopted?”
Dawn nods with a smile.
“Mama arranged for me to come here from the hospital. I came home at six days old. He didn’t want to have anything to do with me for maybe a month or two? But Mama said I got sick and he was asleep on the couch. She laid me on his chest and left. And from that day, I’ve had him wrapped around my finger ever since.”
The day I interviewed Clifton, I also had the privilege of meeting and talking with his daughter, Dawn.
Clifton sat tall in his chair and told me all about his beautifully simple life as a son, a brother, a husband, and a father.
Dawn looked on with a beaming smile as she listened to her dad recall stories of his childhood, his marriage, and the history of her family. My heart puddled as I observed her patience and love for her father.
I hope you’ll stay tuned for more of Clifton and Dawn as I share pieces of their lives.
This project has opened doors for me (literally) to meet people in my community that I may have never met otherwise. To enter their homes, their most sacred spaces, and listen as they open their lives to me through story has been an opportunity of a lifetime.
