“THE SPOTLIGHT EFFECT” (2023)
i’m so freakin’ pumped about this record. it feels like the culmination of so many converging timelines – of countless hours experimenting in the studio, of earthly travels and novel occurrences, of life itself – and i’m so excited for you all to hear it.
i began recording The Spotlight Effect when i was 20 and it feels like several lifetimes have elapsed since then. i blew up on the internet for a sec, spent a year in LA, graduated from college, all while a bunch of crazy stuff happened in the world. in many ways this record is a portrait of these experiences and my own evolving musical identity. it’s my most ambitious work to date, and it’s the one i’m most proud of.
i’m eternally grateful for everyone who made this project possible and to the co-producers and visual artists who brought these songs to life. i also want to thank all my friends, family, and fans for believing in me from day one and coming out to the live shows and hanging for the afterparties. it literally means the world. it’s easy to have self-doubt in the music industry; for some reason a lot of people and societal forces would rather see you quit. but as i listen to this record in its final form, i feel convinced that making music is what i was meant to do. so with that, enjoy the tunes! love uuu freakz 💕
