Over a year in the making… introducing
@theemptycastles
To begin, I know this won’t be for everyone. It’s rock, it’s dark, and we’re wearing masks. That may be shocking to some, but before your fingers go off and type a judgmental comment, please let me explain.
Most of you that follow me have connected with me because of my story… devastatingly losing my mother to Alzheimer’s, dedicating my life to fighting the disease, and now shining light on caregivers. I sincerely believe my mother’s life gave mine purpose, and I promise to continue on that journey until we find a cure, or my last breath(whichever comes first).
With that, there’s another side to me that I’ve been wanting to explore for a long time. My mom only listened to country and worship music, but my dad introduced me to the world of rock. When I was 10 years old, he took me to my first concert… Kansas opening for Styx. That moment was defining for my young mind as it ultimately became the reason why I picked up a guitar.
Fast forward, I’m now blessed to say that I’m one of the few that gets to make a living with my gifts. Almost every day, I experience healing, community, and the exquisite power of music. My mom has been in heaven for 7 years now, but I’ve gone on to honor her life and help raise over $162 million to fund research for dementia treatments. I’ve shared our story on stages all around the world and looked into the tear-filled eyes of thousands of hurting people needing to hear one thing… they’re not alone.
That experience is what inspired this project.
We live in a world full of hurting people, and I feel called to meet those souls in their darkness and show them there’s a way out. If you battle depression, suicidal thoughts, alcoholism, addiction, or all of the above, I’ve been that person. But more importantly… I survived.
