As we celebrate 25 years of US Club Soccer and 25 years of disruption, today marks a milestone in the timeline. On this day in 2009, the Elite Clubs National League was officially sanctioned!
Beginning as a girls-only league, the ECNL has grown to serve as the top youth soccer competition in the country for both boys and girls. The impact of the ECNL on the development of so many players and coaches - and the sport itself - cannot be overstated.
One month from now, ECNL teams will be competing at Finch Farm against some of the best youth academies Europe has to offer. ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney joined Breaking the Line and gives some perspective as to why this was such an important competition to the league and his experiences playing overseas as a kid.
