Maggy here from the quartet! I’m a really visual player, and when I improvise with Malachi, I always picture a pathway forming between our minds like we are syncing into one shared wavelength. I visualize the beats and chords coming towards us, mapping out how we can trade ideas, bounce melodies off of each other, and respond in real time...assuming he’s seeing the same thing in my head😉
I love this clip because you can see the exact moment that Malachi and I lock in, everything clicks, and it feels like we are expressing as one. Meanwhile, Liz and Dwayne are holding it down, giving us the foundation to play on top of. It’s such a specific synergy that can’t be replicated elsewhere. Anyone else feel this way playing music with their band mates?
