In this episode, our makotis are pushed to the limit as they learn important traditional duties expected from a Makoti. From preparing dough and cooking traditional Zulu chicken, to making steamed bread, the ladies step fully into the cultural experience.
But this journey is about more than cooking… it’s about understanding the meaning behind family, respect, marriage, and tradition. 💍✨
Gogo sits down with the Young Makotis, and shares powerful words of wisdom about marriage, family values, and the role of a Makoti in the home. Her advice carries generations of knowledge and love.
At the same time, our younger generation — the “2Ks” 😅 — also share their honest thoughts and perspectives about what being a Makoti means in modern South Africa today. This creates a beautiful and interesting mix between tradition and the new generation’s way of thinking.
This experience was created not only to introduce my German wife to Zulu culture, but also to help all the young women in our home to gain tools, understanding, and wisdom they can carry into marriage and life.

Talking about trying to fit in A week of plans into one day🤍😂 Started the Day with having breakfast with the Thomas family @papachinosfamilia and the kids could play while we had the best chats,
Than lunch time we visited our Beautiful Friends Marcel and Nombulelo, who have literally moved back to South Africa from Germany 🇩🇪 and we didn’t even know we thought they’re just visiting 😒 thank you for not warning us guys 😂
Then we had @bukavue_sa for a quick collaboration and they brought us gifts to take with 🙏 thank you guys..
Then we took a quick drive in the evening to go have dinner with The Njilo family 😍.. My wife had never met sis Ayanda so this time we made sure she does, and they prayed a blessing over us and that was it for the day..
Also can we just say thank you so much to @tazzajakes and her beautiful family for hosting us, you guys made our stay so special and we felt comfortable ❤️ THANK YOU..

Where do we even begin?
This campaign was born out of pure love and desperation — the desire to see the children of Bulwer Primary School get the help they truly deserved. We never imagined it would end up changing our lives too.
Today, we met with the owner of Build It Bulwer, whom we’ve been working closely with regarding the school. What was meant to be a simple two-minute meeting to pay for the windows turned into something far greater. Johann and his incredible suppliers had something much bigger planned.
They poured blessings into the school far beyond anything we had imagined.
From grass-cutting machines, paint, cement, water tanks, racks, doors and so much more — the generosity didn’t stop there.
The school will now have a fully built vegetable garden so it can produce its own food, supported by a 2500L water tank and hosepipe system. The driveway will also be repaired.
The children will no longer have to stop playing sports early because of darkness — lights are being installed on the sports field.
And for the teachers, who continue to serve the school faithfully despite its condition, heaters will now be installed in the staff room.
Now tell me… how was I supposed to not get emotional?
To witness my community, my people, and our children finally receiving the love and support they deserve — it’s overwhelming. I truly am lost for words.
Going forward, @official_dlaminifoundation will proudly be partnering closely with Build It on projects focused on uplifting our community and empowering our youth.
We are proud to say this campaign has been an incredible success. Winter may arrive in full force, but the children and teachers of Bulwer Primary School now have a school that will support and sustain them.
This is more than a project.
This is hope.
This is community.
This is love in action.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement.
