With survival day only a few days away, it’s so vitally important that we don’t stay silent. Being quiet, staying silent, is harmful to the good fight. We, as a community, as a band, haven’t done enough being on unceded Kaurna land. What can we do as a community?
This land we’re on isn’t ours. The nearly 250 years compared to 60,000 years is nothing. But in so short of time, there has been so much damage to this land and the peoples of the First Nations. The oldest living culture.
And we are all complicit to that. Every time we stay silent and watch, every time we don’t speak up, every time we don’t fight for the right thing; it harms. And it allows people like those arseholes who “March for Australia” to do the vile things they do. Or the guy who attacked my partner and I on New Years and put us in hospital, just because of the colour of my partners skin. It’s not acceptable for any of us to stay silent.
Having settler blood means we all have to do our part in reparations, being the voices for change and amplifying First Nations voices
