History isn’t clay. You can’t reshape it just because it doesn’t fit the version you’d prefer to tell. History is not a remix you get to re-engineer when the credits make you uncomfortable. It’s not a fairytale you rewrite when the truth feels inconvenient. Clown and Krump are fraternal twins — not rivals, but relatives. Same city. Same pulse. Raised on the same streets, breathing the same Los Angeles air. Different personalities, same bloodline. One didn’t erase the other. One didn’t exist without the soil that fed both. We didn’t have budgets — we had hunger. We didn’t have platforms — we had pavement. BLOCK ENERGY. The kids of LA stirred that pot together. Different flavors, same stew. Not authored by one ego, but co-signed by a generation. Backyards. Birthday parties. Living rooms. Garages. The Academy. Sweat equity. A foundation so strong that years later, people are still cooking off what we prepared in the ghetto. You can elevate your contribution without erasing everyone else’s. You can honor your chapter without tearing pages out of the book. But you cannot rewrite history. Clown laid the groundwork. Krump evolved the language. They are not enemies. Both are sacred. Both are ours. This workshop is about honoring where it started — respecting the root so the branches don’t forget what tree they belong to. It’s Black History Month. This is Black Los Angeles history.
