His work is inspired by the Mission School art movement, depression-era murals, punk fliers, and fernet; and he paints mainly on stained wood and discarded items.
We are so excited to announce Luis “Inca” Ramos as a featured issue 2 artist! Inca is a foundational figure in the early history of New York graffiti, emerging as a trailblazer in the 1970s as part of the generation that transformed. Inca's work helped shape graffiti into a cultural force long before it entered galleries and institutions.
Today, his practice translates that legacy into meticulously detailed paintings and sculptural street scenes, recreating memories of early history and folklore of NYC graffiti with precision and care. His work preserves the spirit of the city, turning lived experience into lasting form.
Issue 2 artist, Vianney Marquez is an artist and illustrator based in the Inland Empire. Issue 2 featured artist, Nora Enamor is a film photographer based in LA. She is fascinated by people and being able to capture them in a nostalgic and emotional matter. It’s difficult for her to talk about emotional things, which is where portrait photography helps her capture and translate emotions that can be difficult to explain verbally. The goal for her is to reach people’s hearts from her own.
Issue 2 will include Kevin Lopez Pardillo, San Francisco based Artist from the Central Valley California
His work aludes to topics of labor, accessibility and how materials can be used to be in closer proximity to culture. His current practice is rooted in rasquachismo an ideology that originated within the Mexican/Chicano working class. An ideology that goes beyond just surviving; it is adopted for the sake of creativity, and making the most out of the least.
Issue two is coming soon featuring a new artist friend, Sean Mohoot! The traveling photographer uses the historical photographic process of wet plate collodion, also commonly known as “tintype.” This Victorian era process is one of the first forms of photography dating back to the 1850’s and consists of coating a metal plate with light sensitive chemicals, exposing and developing the image before the plate dries all within about 15 minutes. This process is completely hand made and creates an heirloom photograph with archival quality and rich silver tones. Sean is based in Santa Cruz, CA.
