💬 Comment JOUMOU for early access next year.
I curated Soup Joumou as a love letter to Haiti and the diaspora.
A space where Haitian artists, poets, and creatives could be centered, seen, and celebrated—telling our stories in our own voices, in our own language.
At the same time, the gathering was intentionally open.
Konpa on the dance floor brought everyone together, and our DJ—who is Nicaraguan—reminded us that Black and Brown communities are deeply connected through rhythm, migration, and shared histories of resilience.
This wasn’t about exclusivity.
It was about grounding the experience in Haitian culture while welcoming others in with respect, curiosity, and joy.
Soup Joumou has always been about freedom, community, and care.
This event was an extension of that legacy—past, present, and future.
