Back to a job in Catford where I had fitted My Large Enriched Victorian Cornice approximately 20 years ago!
Customer wanted to improve the look of the archway space between the lounge and dining room.
Here you can see the before and after. Plasterwork changing the basic square opening to one with softer curves.
The straight architrave and 35cm internal radius corners I made bespoke for the job.
Wall edges are prepped, mouldings fitted with adhesive and screwed, then I plastered in the gap between to finish off seamlessly.
Just needs a timber plinth fitted at skirting height and painted.
Work transforms the look and feel of the room.

Called in to see an old customer yesterday who is looking for some more cornice work. Took the opportunity to take a couple of pictures of cornice and roses I fitted close to 20 years ago in their through lounge. So looking good!

Originally worked for Tom's father in this same property some 15 years ago when I had to match the existing cornice and panel mouldings in the dining room after the old lath and plaster ceiling came down following a water leak.
Tom is now refurbishing the house for his own family and was good enough to let me loose in the front lounge.
I came up with slightly more involved layout as seen here using #mylargeplainrepro #cornice coupled with some bespoke #panelmoulding and spin around one of my large plain Victorian roses.

As a result of a loft extension, customers cornice was damaged and needed to be copied and reinstated.
I would normally leave the self return tight to the end of the ceiling line however in this case was finished and inch back to reflect work in the rest of the house.

#SE27 As a result of water damage, this #cornice has been missing for a long time. The roof and guttering were replaced but customer didn't get around to the cornice. With the room due to be redecorated, I've been called in to #matchexisting and #repair the cornice before painting starts.

A section of cornice in the 1890's Victorian property in #kingstonuponthames #kt1 failed as a result of a leaking flat roof in the bay window area.
Due to years of paint build up, the ceiling enrichment had lost its definition.
In this instance, this actually helped with this repair.
There was little undercutting and everything was smooth. I was therefore able to take an impression in solid plaster rather than having to make a silicon rubber mould.
The resulting repair blends in perfectly with the existing.
After allowing to dry, this will then get painted, and the repair will effectively disappear.

A steel went in the ceiling when a load bearing wall was removed in the process of knocking the dining room into the kitchen.
I was called in to #replicate, then #repair and extended this lovely old #victorian cornice into the new area.
As you can see, this cornice needed to be copied in 3 separate parts. Unusually, I had to fit the enrichment to the wall line before I could fit the ceiling line.
After painting, you would never know this one room used to be two.

Rather than #restore it completely, because it's fairly clean, was decided to only lightly tidy and then copy it in it's current state. The idea being for the repair to better blend in with the rest of the remaining cornice in the room.
