Geillis Duncan. Healer. First piece finished for an upcoming group exhibition. The theme is folklore, but Iâm focusing on real women who were branded as witches, brutally tortured into false confession, and executed by the state. An estimated 2,500 people (the majority of whom were women) were killed by a fanatically religious Scottish government.
Last year I attended a discussion by the authors of How to Kill a Witch @witches.of.scotland at the @wigtownbookfest and was inspired by the work they are doing to exonerate these women and men, as well as reminding us to fight to protect our freedom and our voices.
