The Best Piece of Advice I Was Given About Breaking Into Tech
When I was just starting my journey into tech, I got an unforgettable piece of advice from a Youtube creator.
I was passionate about transitioning into tech and had been doing everything I thought was rightโtaking multiple online courses, applying to hundreds of jobs, and constantly doubting whether I was good enough to succeed. But, like most beginners, I was making a lot of mistakes: โข Spreading myself too thin by learning too many technologies at once. โข Waiting to feel โreadyโ before applying for jobs or sharing my work. โข Believing I had to be perfect before I could call myself a tech professional.
Until one day, I stumbled on a Youtube video and I heard the guy say:
โYou donโt have to know everything to start. Just pick one thing, get really good at it, and show your work.โ
That day, my whole perspective changed.
Instead of jumping between different programming languages and tech stacks, I focused on one core skillโhoning it, building projects, and sharing my progress. I stopped waiting to feel โreadyโ and started applying for opportunities before I felt 100% qualified.
And guess what? Opportunities started coming my way.
So if youโre trying to break into tech and feeling overwhelmed, remember this: Start where you are, focus on progress over perfection, and put yourself out there. You donโt have to be an expert to beginโyou just have to begin.
Whatโs the best piece of advice youโve ever received about navigating a career in tech?

The truth is, we define our own paths.
Society will have its opinions, obstacles will rise, but what truly shapes our journey is the voice inside of us- the one that says,
โI am enough . I am capable. I will not stop until I achieve my dreams.โ
The world may not always be fair, but the Universe can bend to your will!
