Hey everyone!
Today is the last day of April, and also, the final day of Autism Awareness month. I haven’t posted my normal Awareness month content, because the reality is, every single day for me is Autism Awareness.
There’s a lot people don’t see, in my daily life, or when I’m out in public, around other people, because the majority of the time I’m masking to function and fit in to society, but also because it’s just the system my brain has used to for so long. Some days are good, but others are also just a genuine struggle.
I don’t mean to come off as negative at all, I WANT to be positive because this is incredibly important to me and everyone else in my life, my community. But I want you to understand the reality of what I go through everyday.
During the difficult days when I’m incredibly overstimulated, I need quiet , peace and to be in my own space. That essentially is what April has been for me this month, and how I chose to spend it. I went on a trip with my family and got the downtime I needed. The hardest thing about this is the process of having to get out of that space and away from my comfort zone, out into the real world. I’m going to be 24 in a few weeks and I’m still learning everyday, making mistakes and learning from them. Even when I’m at my best. I don’t always have the answers for everything because I’m still looking for them myself. Sometimes I don’t even know how to explain things in words because with my Autism, the vast majority of it is deeply internal rather than external. But, what I do know, is all I want for me and every individual with Autism is to be treated like everyone else. With equity, dignity, and autonomy. And I know my friends on the Spectrum feel the same.
That’s what I fight for everyday.
My Autism doesn’t define me as a person, but it’s a core part of me and always will be.

I really love finding places like these. Not only was it a really good reading spot, but it was incredibly sensory-friendly. It felt like time stopped when I sat here for a good few hours. You can just... feel the silence there, how 'loud' it is. Being surrounded by nature especially was really amazing. I'm starting to realize how important meditation and reflecting is, having Autism.
Spent the last day of 2025 at the ocean.
A place that brings me peace and steadiness with the people I can be myself the most around.
It rained all day and I feel like that was washing some of the harder parts of this year clean.
I hope 2026 is what we all need, filled with love, acceptance and kindness.
I'm going to do my best to be that for everyone.
Happy New Year!
@autismcaretoday 's All Ghouls Gala last night!
I love an event that supports people on the Spectrum and makes sure that we are seen and heard.
I also loved getting to see so many of my friends in our community.
