Today was a big day! Onyx celebrated his 3 years & 200th visit to physical therapy at @vcasouthshore with @my2retrievers , we also celebrated his 8th birthday! In honor of all these accomplishments Onyx dressed up as a VCA tech specialist, "the sniff supervisor" for an early Halloween costume!
Today marks 3 years since this handsome pumpkin herniated 3 discs in his back & lost the use of his hind legs. I remember rushing him to the emergency vet wondering if they'd even be able to do anything for him or if I'd have to say goodbye that day. Thankfully the team at @vcasouthshore got him in & they preformed surgery that day. The entire time he was in there & even the few weeks following I questioned if I made the right choice for him. The recovery was hard & heartbreaking but I can happily say he has lived his best life these past 3 years! Thanks to @eddieswheels we have been able to continue life pretty normally from road trips, hikes, beach walks, lots of snuggling & everything in between. I'd also like to thank his besties @my2retrievers & @_alexandradunn_ for making his weekly rehab visits one of his favorite days of the week! I'm so grateful this happy little hambino is still rolling with me 🤍
